Thinking of getting a top mount turbo for my 1jz chaser Has anyone got a top mount set up on there chasers and if so what turbo you running? I’m either thinking the precision 6262 or the borgwarner 257sxe but I’m just wondering what’s best? Any ideas?
A mate Matt is planning this too on his vvti. I think he is going s257 Borg. He cant decide on the AR tho. One seems too small and one too big. I'm 1.5jz non vvti. I'm s362sxe. Too big really for a 2.5l. I'd say your not far off the mark mate by what I've heard.
Yeh just checked he is going s257. Its 0.83 ar or 1.0. Depends what you want there. 0.83 will spool quicker. 1.0 better top end.
Cheers for the info I’m just a little worried it’s going to be laggy(which I don’t want) I’m thinking in my head I want it to be boosting by 3500rpm ish I’ve seen people run them on Subaru’s so they can’t be that bad surely?? I was thinking the 0.83 shame they don’t do it in the 0.68 or 0.75 on the t4 that would be better
Doubt it will be if you go twin scroll. Mines t4 362 .91ar and I get full boost by 3500 So a .83 on a T3 size on a 2.5l will probably be even lower if you go full twin scroll setup.
that’s a real nice soarer you got there So I’m guessing the smaller turbo I’m after 257sxe will more than likely boost the same as your 262 being your 1.5 will be a torqueier motor do you rate these turbos then?
I fitted a borg warner efr 8374 0.83 undivided t3 on my 1jzvvti. 0.9 bar of boost making 450bhp. Full boost at 4k rpm and pulls like a train through the rev range.
I do like the efr borgs but there like double the price of the 257sxe, i also like the gtx3076r gen 2 and the precision 5862 gen 2 but again there all double the price
Yeah wasn't cheap to be fair. Best bet is talk to who ever will be tuning the car. They'll have seen most set ups and be able to point you in the right direction.
I have 362 not 262. But yes that's the conclusion my mate came to. I've not driven it enough yet. But they look good and get good reviews etc... people rate them. Proof will be in the pudding as I use it more. And thanks for the kind comments. I've better pics than that but only had that one on my phone.
