forgot to post the new suspension bits that came in a couple weeks back. picked up some Level Zero Motorsports delrin rear subframe bushings, whiteline front poly bushings and PBM dtss eliminators, PBM camber links and PBM spherical bearing bushings for the rear to fix the wacky binding issues that can happen with FC's. the partssbymax stuff is sexual {} also got this oil pan baffle {} apologies for stuff being really slow with this. its because of a lack of money and resources. its not easy taking on such a large project at 17 lol
Those white line bushes are fun to instwll man if they are eccentric camber adjustment ones. I had to trim the little sleave the bolt goes through in the hub and the actually white line steel insert as well. Then they were a cunt to adjust so pulled them and just put pbms non adjustable ones in. Just a heads up haha. But how fucking good is the psm stuff.
i know the reckless tribe dudes so yeah thats probably where you've seen it haha. nah these arent the eccentric camber adjustment ones joel they're just basic poly ones for the front. havent read about them giving anyone grief before but time will tell
hulloo sorry for the late update i keep forgetting to post here lol. a decent bits happened since i last posted but its been slow work. i bought some chopped knuckles from my boy recklesstribe with the purple FC as one of my original ones had the ball joint tensioner bolt(?) SEIZED in to it. i couldnt get it out no matter what i tried so i thought it was best if i just copped the chopped ones as they were a good deal and in better nick anyway. right after buying the knuckles i got all the suspension bits painted big up the main mukka john shaw for doing all the painting. would defos recommend him if you ever need stuff painted round glasgow area {} the purple has a really nice flake to it, shame my camera doesnt pick it up the best and no one will even see it when its on the car anyway {} also got the engine bay fully smoothed and looking slick and no, the engine isnt built yet. i just slapped it together as i need it in to mock up some things that are coming next month hehe. any guesses? {} im happy with where the coil packs are relocated to now. cleans up the front half of the bay quite a bit {} been cleaning a load of parts up in my free time too. my new work has a mediablasting cabinet in it so ive been taking full advantage of that! got lots of little bits like the gearbox mount, fuel and oil filler necks etc done. {} months back i took on the lengthy job of scraping all the undersealer off the underside so its properly ready for when i come round to getting it blasted again. I was vERY surprised at just how little rust is on this shell. its a shame the body's not perfectly straight but ah well. Would have loved to keep stock body but my rear panels are very beaten and the shell i was going to get cuts off got vandalised so i said fuckit and pulled the trigger on some 50mm final konnexion rear over fenders so thats that problem solved bless YAJ and their bangin deals !! {} cut the rear speaker towers out of the old shell and welded them into the new one so i can run the rear speakers and boot lit. the plan for this build is to make it a clean streetable car so having full interior would be real good. its the only part of the original car in great nick so why not? {} i bought a set of RX8 oil coolers for super cheap last week that i'm going to be getting mounted to the car tomorrow. its the start of something ive been wanting to do for a hot minute theres probably a load of things ive forgotten about but i'll post them up if i remember them. until next time amigos
soo part 1 of the V mount is complete. managed to use the original RX8 oil cooler mounts that I chopped and extended for the brackets so they can still have rubber mounts. Just waiting for the other bits to arrive now so i can continue on with it I also managed to buy some new HSD dualtechs for super cheap so when they arrive i'll be able to drop the shell on its clean new suspension and get it rolling {} {} {} {} until next time
got the part 2 of the V-mount finished off some fanny welded up the holes on the chassis leg that would've been convenient to mount the intecooler to so i had to get creative with how i mounted it. whipped up the brackets below and they're perfect. very happy with how they came out, love wee unique fabricated bits like it on builds. for anyone who cares, its just a CX racing 24x12x3 intercooler also recently bought a rebuilt stock S5 turbo. will be removing the internal wastegate and routing the new one out the manifold so i can control boost better and make mad fuckin sick cunt noises {} {} {} {} {} {}
forgot to mention that the Final Konnexion over fenders arrived. drivers side got cracked slightly in shipping but its easily fixable. i would rather keep stock body for multiple reasons but these fit perfectly so im happy with them . you can see the damage to the quarter panel, shits pretty bad. the other side isnt much better, no clue what this shells been through but its not had the easiest life lol {} {} {} if anyone has ideas on good, clean looking ways to merge the inner wheel well lip to the quarter panel after chopping the arch please hmu! im not gonna just chop it up into strips and rivet it to the body before anyone suggests that {} {} just need the coilovers to arrive so i can drop it onto the fresh suspension and get it rolling! still plan to get the shelll reblasted but getting it on its wheels would be a big milestone for me
Wait, What? Your 17 and building one of these in your own home! Glasgow must have some wealth haha! Good job though, love seeing resto projects like this, wish I had the time and money to do this to mine just for the satisfaction of knowing its a perfect car, but driving it is more affordable to me at the minute
Haha no wealth here! I buy everything on my own from low wage jobs and I inherited the tools I use from my dad. Just doing whatever I can to get by
been making the most of this lockdown self isolation shite! got a good bit done. i'll let the photos talk {} acid dipped all hardware as it was a rusty mess. might still just get it all plated {} got fresh wheel bearings all round and thought i may aswell throw in extended studs so i dont have to deal with that in the future {} my boy tottie sorted the cracks up the over fender. perfect now {} {} used rivnuts for the over if anyone was wondering {} {} looks quite rough at the moment but with a little work and a lot of money it should be reet feels fucking good rolling it out the garage after a good 2.5 years of slaving away on it! shame the suspension isnt in it for good but hey ho, i'll get there eventually.
heres just a bunch of photos from the past couple days. crazy seeing it sitting on the road even if it is a mile away from being a proper car {} {} since the rears are 50mm, i thought i'd try see what i could do with the scrap front wings. not sure how i feel about it but its also far from finished so time will tell. definitely something a bit different but im on the fence. what do people think? {} {} {} {} i also extended all the mounts and bits for the fuel lid so now thats flush with the quarter panel. its the little things that makes a build {} {} {} .
Looking good man has come a long way. Favorite part so fsr is the fuel flap mod. Does my head in seeing them recessed.
