Finger crossed boys. Hopefully we make some numbers rather than make a mess haha.

so things started off well when I received this snapchat first thing monday morning.
    A352F97D-280B-4009-B85A-25C0F9FA17F0.
The joy of having your mapper also being a mate of yours haha.

but jack proceeded to go through his usual process, starting with a boost leak check, that revealed 2 boost leaks. Not bad for a brand new system, one was the hose to the defi control box for the boost gauge, easy fix, the other was throttle body gasket. Bit more complicated but jack quickly had it sorted.

Then he had some wiring to sort out in the car. So was fucking around doing that with the ignition on and off all afternoon. This highlighted a sizeable issue when he came to start the car,

i had been somewhat of a ham fisted fucked putting the injectors in the rail and nicked 2 o rings, jack having the ignition on and off. Was also priming the fuel system over and over, and it filled 2 cylinders and hydrolocked it. Fuck.

Jack then pulled the plugs, disconnected the cas, cranked it over to get rid of the fuel, then did a compression test. Cylinders 1, 2 and 4 has 140psi cylinder 3 had 60psi and cylinder 6 had 100. Gutted. Obviously immediately thought that it had bent valves. Jack sorted the injector issue out and ran it anyway for a bit just to move the car. Decided to do a hot compression test just on the off chance anything had changed. Bizzarely the result was 150psi across all 6.

The next day he did another compression test once it was cold, the theory being if the compression had dramatically dropped on the 2 bad cylinders now it was cold again, it had bent valves and when warm they expanded just enough to seal. If the compression was still good on the 2 bad cylinders then where i had had the car running prior to it going to jack, it had bore washed the cylinders and once it had run without the extra fuel from the leaking o rings, the rings had bedded back in and all was well.

The cold compression results were 145 across all 6, bullet dodged. Astonishingly.

Jack then remade my oil drain out of solid steel apart from the last bit into the sump to stop any fire risk. And because the setup i had was fucking shit. Then he wired in the intake air temp sensor for the link, and the mac valve for the boost control. Then he slung that bitch on the dyno.
    F832EB05-137B-448E-88E5-E292321F374C.

He managed 2 pulls and the car lost fuel pressure. Disappointing, he asked me if the car had fuel in it (the gauge is untrustworthy to say the least) and i said yes. I put 20L in it the day it went to jack, i put 20L in it the week before and i also put 20L in it for the first start from dry. So i was fairly confident it had fuel. So jack checked a few things. Couldn’t see anything wrong, so just put another 20L of fuel in it to check. And sure as shit. That sorted the issue. So from dry and for running for about 1.5 hrs of idling. A bit of revving and a couple of 10mph trundles around the yard, and 2 dyno pulls. That fucker got through 60 litres of fuel. So that shows how far out the base map was and how bad the leak was on those injectors.

Anyway jack proceeded to map the car. And the results were far better than i expected.

    6B4B9481-6A7E-4F5E-AD8A-E912E0670BEA.

447bhp, 420 of the finest torques, at 1.2 bar. I was hoping it would be around the 400 mark. So was pleasantly surprised with that number.

I get the car back Friday and i can genuinely say after nearly 4 years of building and dreaming about this thing i am both buzzing my tits off, and fucking petrified haha. But I can’t wait. Its got a few more boring bits to sort when it comes back, then onto paint and aesthetics. But we are fucking close now boys.

Also i can not reccomend Jack at J’s Garage Motorsport enough. I know im his friend so i have to be nice, but he is so knowledgeable, and willing to help out. Real RB man and knows his shit about all these ropey old nissans we keep building.

There we have it. Burnouts imminently.

his dyno was scaled wrong. That was the first thing i said. The actual rev limit is 7400. Thats a full pull. Just his dyno was set incorrect.

So i have had the car back for a few weeks. First thing was to get the defis working as best i can. So rewired them. Sorted a few issues. Got them working.
    E2374629-D7E6-4CDA-9A5B-4813485935C6.
Unfortunately i needed to order 2 new cables from the sensors to the box for the water and oil temp. 80 fucking pounds for 2 wires. Fuck me dead.

Then i took the car home for the first time. That was quite the feeling after all this time.
    42832502-AF01-4C26-9930-CC38AD39690E.

once i had it home the Mrs wanted to clean it. So the least i could do was let her haha.
    4EC5361E-0FA5-465F-81DB-BCA5B0B064A4.
    7614E44A-F824-462E-B14C-EFB4B1F1A5B1.

the least i could do was let her. Was nice to see it look a little tidier.

I then tried to get the car into the Car port at home. Wasn’t sure it would fit. But it went in a treat.
    679A2D96-46BB-4143-8531-AF9152A28E60.
So that was a cool novelty haha.

Then i had to find one of the most treasured things for this car. A little while back i got a message from a hero for me. Asking in broken English for my address because my car was cool and he wanted to send me some stickers.
    458E4803-5A08-4688-A55F-90CB58CF9548. F1E21460-BFF6-473F-BCE8-E2F59CBA30E9.

Mr Abo Satsukawa of Abo-moon. What a legend. I wanted to put one in my car. But somewhere that it wouldn’t get destroyed. So decided here.

    28D0D8CD-B60B-4D82-A587-B6E7E5E66D22.

    Perfect haha.

The next day i decided to investigate my smell of fuel in the lovely weather.
    B61951EB-608C-405D-8A29-A3006950DA5F.

doggo helped. I discovered the oring for the sender unit was leaking. So i have a new one on the way.

A few days later i went and nut and bolt checked the car. Most shit was loose. I guess because a lot of fresh paint and solid bushes. So i sorted a few bits. Chucked a rear bumper on the car and took it for an MOT. Once that was done it was officially on the road.
    28A1ECB2-8C8F-4A11-9258-525A84410D16.

So despite it looking like shit, being high, and 50 different colours of black its still kinda looked cool. However i very fucking quickly realised 3” straight pipe and a lairy 2” runner manifold is obnoxiously loud on the road. So i took it for a trip to get a takeaway.
    E0FF963F-4C40-48F7-B11B-9087BC48071E.

This confirmed the fucking thing was far too loud.

So i cut up an old exhaust i had in the unit and welded the box into the exhaust. I have to say. Not the prettiest and its not permanent, but its shut it up and made it more enjoyable to drive on the road without everyone screaming abuse at me as i drove by at 20mph.
    42539EF6-AB3D-42AD-B15B-20B889B3301C.

So i used it to go shopping this weekend i have to say it was a hot an uncomfortable place to be, but i fucking loved it haha.
    E72C51D5-F1DC-4359-85C8-E4982CE6FB0C.

So much fun to use. The public look at you like you’re driving a spaceship around haha.

Also i spent the afternoon wiring in some speakers because its not a street car if it doesn’t have tunes. Also something fun about having it at home to potter around doing little jobs.
    063D75CB-5EAF-4FB5-BF36-A8F1964EAD7E.

So the plan is to get a few more miles on it, work out and find the bugs, there are a few coming up, for example the brakes feel like shit, so i am going to rebuild the calipers, i need to lower the car back down, i need to align the car properly and the final thing is to get the car painted and get the roof spoiler and boot spoiler and painted. However those things cost a lot of money and the push to get this on the road so we will be a little bit longer than i hoped. However going to continue to improve the car bit by bit now its actually a car.

hey man. Yeah there are plenty of plans, this is a temporary look just to get it usable and work the bugs out. Here is a photo of the overall idea with the setup i have.
    96641E3B-E54D-4EED-B353-5009FF528DE4.

once ive worked out the creases bodywork, aesthetics and paint are next in line. I just want to work out the mechanical bugs first.
