Hi, have a Ca18det in ford Capri wired in by myself using Capri wiring diagrams and Nissan diagrams found online.

was bought new 12v battery, and a refurbed by professionals ca alternator.

Battery is getting 18v from alternator. Reading online says I need 6v on the white/red wire on alternator plug instead of 12v. I am not using a Nissan cluster so can't plug into the original charge lamp. What can I do to reduce the 12v down to the required voltage? If anyone has run into same issue and has a cure please let me know :).

After reading online I've found I need 6v on the red/white wire on alternator instead of 12v (not using original cluster). Anyone know what kind of amps I will see down this wire? I'm looking to fit a resistor.
