Siting still you would expect it to heat up.
Personally tho I would still check the stat to see if it’s stuck open

Thermostat works fine, but the engine still wont get up to temp. Lower hose dont change temp and coolant temp dont go above 75, goes a bit higher when i hold the throttle, but goes right back down once i let off.. any other tips?

What work have you recently done on the car / cooling system?

And the valvecover gets hot to the point where i cant touch it without burning my hand so the car is getting hot and the coolant is smoking

    Probably air lock.
Try bleeding it with the front raised and the heater set to hot.

Tried how? Some cars are funny about bleeding and can retain air even when you think you've bled the system fully. Try this kit, works a treat.

Have you checked if the heater matrix has been bypassed or anything? If someone has done a shit job you might have issues because coolant isn't properly circulating around the engine.

    Air lock

Start with leaving the rad cap off over night.

If you haven’t already I’d suggest taking the car for a drive. I had a similar problem with a freshly built SR. Tried everything to get it up to temp, replaced thermostat etc still didn’t work. Drove it a few hundred metres around the yard and boom, cleared it
