Hi all, so... iv bought a 1999 e46 318ci. Iv also bought a m52 engine to go in it, how ever when the engine is sat on its mounts it seems to be sat to far to the rear so the sump is sat on the front cross member and steering rack and the gear box mount won't line up with the holes for the bolts, has anyone had this issue, thanks in advance.
So.... I bought some mounts from a e34 mounts and now the engine sits good in the bay, however the gearbox mount still doesn't match up with the existing holes on chassis and the gear stick is still to far to the rear of the car. My question is are the gear linkages and the gearbox mount on a 318 to 325 different?
Yeah 4 cylinder shift rods are longer as the box sits further forward. Easy to cut and weld if you have the capability, if not cut it and take it to someone. Make sure you clean the weld areas properly and it'll be way cheaper. E36 has 6 holes in the chassis for the gearbox mount so it can be moved back not sure if 46 is the same?
Hi, mate, no the e46 only has the 4 holes for the mount, as for the shifter I can get that done no problem.
