Loving the new Origin hood. I can vouch for the quality of their stuff, my mate forgot to latch his down, entered the drift and the hood lifted up into the window. No damage to the hood at all, real sturdy. Light skin too. I have an old M Sport hood, in fact I believe it came off the old C's Garage car that was at Stacked for a while. Now that is ace quality, but I'd be too scared to cut it haha. Clean car looking good!
{} {} All road legal for another 6 months Some better shots of the new bonnet {} {} And took it along to my son's playcentre for a Little Mechanics day {} On the way home had a Motorsport NZ scrutineer give it a once over to see what my eligibility would be for sealed sprints. They were happy with most of it seeing as though it's road legal but need little things like a tow hook strap, double strap fire extinguisher bracket, cap the positive post in the engine bay and heat shield the brake line near the turbo. Nothing major and sensible stuff. The personal protection was a bit crazy: triple layer fire retardant race suit, boots & gloves. That alone is going to put me off doing those events, so I'll have to bide my time until the autocross events are back
Thanks dude, just need to get out & use it a bit more tbh Nothing much happening on this at the moment. Blocked off the line from the oil catch can to the turbo intake so it won't get pressurised off throttle (no recirc valve/BOV). Found the amp in my sub box has called it quits so ordered a replacement from Uncle Ali. Also, got my hands on an FC Datalogit so will jump in and have a poke around when I get a chance We've got spring Matsuri weekend after next. Hoping to get the car on the dyno for a check up before heading down to help out the beginners
Ooooft, that NZ Spring Matsuri always provides great YouTube content. The quality and appearance of the motors is awesome, we have similar events in the UK but everything seems better with sunshine haha. Hope it all works as it should for you anyway, I might be the owner of an RB20DET later today, if all goes to plan - which will obviously end up in my R32 - thus solving my DE+T conundrum (that I've yet to start!)
Thanks man. So keen for this that I packed the car yesterday This Matsuri will be interesting as we've got Round 1 of the Pro Sport Championship of D1NZ happening at the event. The last time we paired up with D1NZ it was a shambles, but with no Pro egos around we should be ok. Operative word being should. Nice move on the 20 if it comes to fruition. With a decent exhaust manifold on them they sound epic
Matsuri done & dusted. Best one yet tbh {} Drove the car to work, then to the dyno for a check up. Lucky i did because there was a bit of noise up top, so my tuner pulled a couple of degrees out and pulled the rev limit back from 7500 to 7200. Drove it from there straight to the track (photo above) to run through an event plan Tweaked the rules a little and the Beginner/Amateur part of the event went really well. Had a few people drop out last minute which made things easier, and a bunch of mates pitched in to help with logistics meant way less headaches and a lot more fun. Because we were running the first round of the Pro Sport (ie tier below D1NZ) it added another dimension to the event. In all honesty it ran smoother than I could have imagined. Having the Pro Sport qualifications and battles run after 4pm on each day meant it really didn't eat into the track time {} My other instructor, Shane's, 180sx The turn signal fuse kept blowing on my throughout the weekend. I got it back to just having the LHS indicator but couldn't find a reason for it. I have my suspicions that it's the cheap LED indicator resistors. Also, the gearbox shifting starting get worse to the point where it wouldn't go into 5th without grinding. Sure enough i screwed up and put GL5 in it instead of GL4. Grabbed some Redline MT90 and will swap that over ASAP but it's not looking good for 5th gear synchro. Apart from that i want to get the front wheels sitting out a little further and install the Whiteline front swaybar. Now the Silvia is where it's at I'm toying with the idea of a practice car now. Something i can throw together with spare parts and test out things that i otherwise can't with the Silvia. As soon as my mate gets his new place i can store it at his so the better half doesn't know....
Appear to have fixed the turn signal gremlin and have some Redline MT90 GL4 trans oil in it now Some more pictures popped up {} {} {}
Only been over two years since the last update lol After selling Lunch Money I refocused on this, tidying up small things here & there. The new shed makes working on it very easy Since last update this thing has doubled in value but I'm trying to keep using it like I originally intended. Packed up for another matsuri
I got 2 laps out of one pair of half worns, and with more half worns sitting around already on wheels I needed to find a way to transport more next event Unsure if I'll run it next month or just pull the back seat out. Went to a charity car meet with my 5yo son too
Amazing work man! And yeah it's been crazy just watching the price of these go up and they're just sitting in the shed while you think "I cant afford to fuck this thing up anymore." Can't believe you only just got a feature too, this thing is famous around here, I thought for sure you'd been in magazines for years.
