Sticking bike carbs on my capri (still...) and i'm just wondering the easiest way to put in a fuel return line for the carbs. Will a T-piece and one way valve into the line to the pump do? Cheers
my old poocarb didn't but the bike carbs do, and i'm informed by those in the know about motor-driven-bicycles that bike carbs need one
I have no clue at all, but either Matt or Nev/Matt at driftmoto should know, they seem to stick bike carbs on everything!
The carbs I've worked with didn't have fuel return, they had this little tank before the carb where fuel that isnt used goes back to the fueltank. It is called the triple tank here..
you doing it to a fuel injected car?? T off before the FPR and back to wherever the tank is then from the fpr to the tank.
Nope, 2.0 pinto in a capri, old 32/36 Weber had no fuel return on it, new bike carbs do have a fuel return, I just need to know if it has to go specifically into the fuel tank, or if it can just go back into the feed line between the tank and the pump, via a T- piece and a one way valve. Tried Matt but he didnt answer his phone thanks
just block it off. i only run a return to bleed off so i can still run a decent electric pump. i don't return from the carbs.
yeah carbie sierras have that. some carbs have a return to prevent flooding but if the fuel pump is engine driven (i.e. mechanical) its not usually an issue. If you run an electric pump you should have a return to prevent floodage, but it depends on the design of the carb as to whether it should have a return or not. Easiest way if there is no return take off for the carb supply lines is to find a sierra 'triple tank'
Yeah gsxr jobbies, this job is nowhere near as straightforward as the Classic Ford article led me to believe
It will have a return so that when the float chambers shut off the fuel flow the pressure wont rise... Which is stronger the float valve or the fuel pump? Me... I'd be put a return pipe to the petrol tank... But if it were me I'd not be fitting carbs
Are those gixxer carbs flatslides? I was gonna say... &I need to speak to you about the possibilities of using Vems on a V8 with Blacktop 4AGE throttle bodies...
When I PM'ed you about something similar I saw you doing (Supra) you'd use up your message allowance, you bad man you.
Just run another line down the car the same route as the old one. Look on the sender on the fuel tank there should be a return hole blocked with a blank pipe. Fit the return pipe to that. Also think of fitting a fuel pressure regulator, bike carbs run different that the car ones. Are you fitting an electric pump? or using the engine mechanical pump? Electric is a better way. If you need better help ring Bogg brothers Bogg Brothers fabrication
Take carbs off, put in fire and melt them, then pour them into a throttle bodie mould, then allow to cool, then bit of machining, fit injectors and ecu and off you go job done like
do you know what month this article was in, ive been thinking about this for my capri but was looking for a cheaper way than bogg bros, then maybe taking it to them to set up. does the article say anything about setting up the carbs?
