Hey guys First off, sorry. By modelling I don't mean I send a bunch of naked ladies around your house to prance about your car . I've just got into making game models, and wanted to get started on a proper project. If anyone wants me to give their car a go, and (if all goes well) put it in game (I don't know which one yet), then send me a PM. Post in here if your interested, but PM me some decent high-res pictures. I'll need side, front/back, close ups on wheels etc, all for referance, but they need to be half decent so i can make textures from them as well. Also, I can't garantee that it'll be absolutly amazing, but I'll give it my best. Thanks for looking
Good luck with getting into making game models. I've been doing it for nearly 6 years at a professional level and probably around 10years if I include going back to the days of making car shapes in GP2. What software are you using at the moment? As Chris said, do you have any previous examples of any work you've done. If you need/want any advice give me a shout and I'll do my best to help you out along the way. I learnt the hard way.. on my own by just experimenting and teaching myself. Within 2 years of starting proper 3d modelling for a game called RACER I was working as a professional freelance contractor. You'll need a massive amount of reference to make a car accurately. I typically take up to 300 photos of a car when I'm out reference hunting, some pics are used as reference for making textures and some are used as 3d reference. I also tend to take a tape measure and notebook with me when gathering reference to take down some important measurements that I can base the model around. As some shameless self promotion here's the sort of standard of meshwork the current hardware typically allows for:
Must dig out brother davids astra, sadly I think thats lost in the midst of time mate I should have stuck with max could have had two skylines
and an E30.. don't forget the E30!!! brother_davids astra.. yeh, you keep bringing that one up but to be fair even that was better than most things you did... {}
...or the worlds least gay MX5? No need to get the body shape right, as the shape of the body isn't right. Although it is asymmetric, which would be loads of extra work.
Taff, that's bloody awesome! Hopefully I'll get that decent one day Obviously I'm not as epic as him, but I just need a project to throw myself into. I'll have a look for some pictures of your cars lads
what program you using? iv fallen outa times with it, when i used to model it was 3D Studio Max and lightwave iirc?.. it was the biggest pain in the ass ever, but when you got it.. the end results where usually worth it
Would love ya to do mine if you wanted. Not enough AE86 levins in games as it is lol. Heres my project thread: http://www.driftworks.com/forum/dri...62625-my-20v-ae86-levin-drift-track-spec.html
