I just need to know if the manifolds from the m3 and 328 are interchangable/same?

I swear i read somewhere there not but i need to make sure:cry:

Been offered a cast turbo manifold from a m3 which is why i need to know, i do believe you can make them fit. anyone know?

Cast turbo manifold? Wouldn't have thought there'd be many cast aftermarket items.

Unless its a 325tds manifold in which case will fit with a little work.

It is no where near a straight forward swap and will need custom fabricated flanges (328 = 3bolt M3 = 2bolt), lambda sensor mounts and generally lots of fiddling around to get a reasonable fitment to the cylinder head facing and to gain clearance from other components through heating up and manipulating the pipes :smash: That's without mentioning the pissing about you have to do getting the steering linkage off to get the old one out.

It has been done before but try it at your own peril - Haynes manual rating = 5 spanners and then some.

Unfortunately not that I'm aware of, the RHD market for FI BMW's is very scarce and anything that is around on the market place is usually aimed towards the M series cars. You'd be better of time and money wise doing a centrifugal supercharger conversion for FI or transplanting an S50B30/S50B32 or S54B32 engine for more NA power.

Ebay advert text says - Professional Installation is Highly Recommended~!

So roughly translated this means that the item is a useless piece of toot that has no chance of fitting properly and you need to be real handy at fabricating stuff to stand any hope of getting a vague fitment to your vehicle; you must have been born yesterday if you go ahead and complete the purchase.

the m50 and s50 have the same 4 bolt mountings per cylinder so the manifolds are interchangable, assuming you mean the exhaust manifold it will fit no problems.

the one in that ebay add will fit fine with no problems so i dont know what you are going on about sport coupe.

It was a figure of speech made in the third degree, so it was not actually aimed towards you. It was also quite tongue in cheek hence the addition of a smiley icon.

Crack open a beer and chill out a bit

You actually have misunderstood what I was referring too as I was talking about the other end i.e. the mounting flange to the catalytic convertor. The M3 manifolds are a fair amount larger too as they are equal length and extend further down than any other 6cyl E36. They are definitely NOT interchangeable!

The one listed on eBay is made for a left hand drive car thus it is my opinion that when you fit it to a RHD car the manifold will then either foul the steering linkage and/or the engine mount.

It's a cast turbo manifold so it's irrelevant whether it bolts to the cats or any of that stuff! Head flanges are the same, if it's one of the universal front/top or rear/bottom mount designs then run it as front top and you'll be all good.

    It'll fit!

your going to have to make a down pipe from the turbo to front pipe so its irrelavent what flange is on the down pipe
