Bollox to halfords grey, you need red oxide, awesome shit, cheap as chips. Go to your local paint/body shop and ask for a it, protects well too...

Proper tramp drift paint, none of the grey/matt black crap... :D

Red oxide is where its at.....

Yeah we can get it for about £2 a can at our local big motor factors. It's a tetrosyl trade primer.

Pay for primer? Ugh how obscene!

I've seen a couple of car boots in the past sell packs of like 12 Simoniz for about £5 before so don't know if it's worth keeping a look out at the likes of those?? Or autojumbles or anything like that if you have one nearby regularly

That's the most common stuff you will find, Tetrosyl, as MJG already said. Here is a photo from my spray gun topic>

What you want to do, is blag a Halfords trade card.
It makes their prices much more tolerable.

Unfortunately, the Halfords primer is also absolutely rubbish. You may as well spray your car with water and wait for the dust to stick to it. It's very thin :(

Daddy D - please tell me where you got that can gun from? The only ones I have seen to date only work with the smaller spray heads.

Halfords sell the adaptor or atleast my branch does. Also trade cards can't be used in conjunction with buying paint I asked them last time I needed some.

??? I've used a trade card to get money off paint before. Can't remeber how much it was, but it was cheaper.

Cossiecrew and Eighty Six, I mentioned "from my spray gun topic" so you could have had a look
    >http://www.driftworks.com/forum/technical/61585-aerosol-spray-gun-anyone-tried.html

To cut long story short. I went to Halfords, found why the expensive looking version has faults with catching the paint on the side of the plastic, bought the cheaper looking gun on ebay and it fits every single can I've tried. Even some deodorant cans hehe. It's a simple U shape fit and it dosen't get loose over time. But it's plastic so don't leave it on the can on a hot day or may expand.
The best thing to buy if somebody even make it, is a similar spray handle gun but with it's own nozzle so you never have to think if the cans are good quality. Plus you will always remember the pattern it sprays.

Cheap primer, you cant beat a pound shop. I get mine from poundland and i've done loads of cars with it, works great. They normally do it in grey or white.
    So thats £1 a can :)
