Hey all im gav and new to the forum thort id post my build thread, its not strictly drift but rwd never the less so as i was asked to throw it up here it is I have always had a fassination with cars especialy high perfomance cars,When i first become road legal i wanted to start off learning the basics of engine tuning and teaching my self an doing as much as i possible could with out specialist help to help later in life when i come to build much higher spec jap cars. So i decided a good base to start from would be a vauxhall i no i no lol,anyway i spent a few years messing about with GSI corsa's,GTE nova's doing engine swaps and so on, but i always had this feeling for the need for more power and always wanted somthing turbocharged as my next project, I have always been interested in jap cars as theres so many variations of parts and options on the market.So as soon as i turned 20 and had built up a few years no claims i decided on two cars a nissan pulsar GTI-R as i liked that it had 4x4 drive and of course the toyota mr2 turbo for its powerfull race bread 3SGTE engine (same one found in the wrc corrola and celica in the erly 90's,the mr2 won my heart in the end as i fell in love with the looks of the rev3 GTS shape and there pritty rare in the south. So after a few months searching i came across a very tidy mr2 rev3 turbo, i went and had a look it was very clean and looked after and a very good price, after a final inspection (4hrs worth lol) i bought it, so i took my new project home some 250miles wich i loved every secound of ,and it didnt miss a beat and was soo quick had a nice lil comparisant test lol with a subaru on the way back just to compaire the power lets just say he was rather shocked when i dropped it down a gear So let the modding tuning begin pics from when first bought

samco turbo hose engine cover catches tein mono flex race coilovers old standard discs replaced whith EBC grooved discs whith EBC ceramic pads
I then decided to turn my head towards cleaning up the rotten engine bay, with some nice polished and painted parts with fresh hoses 8) engine bay before after chromed heat shields turbo heat shield chromed
Then came the wheels i wanted to do something diffrent just didnt no what until i went to castle coombe show in 2009 and saw one of the driftworks cars with neon orange wheels, i took a big chance as it may look pants and they werent the cheapist of alloys to use at 2.5k a set but i had to do it rays gram light wheels refurb in custom neon orange before after a few other goodys fitted tacho, fire exstiguisher, s200 push button start were the cig lighter youed to fit
I had also fitted a turbo technics hybrid blower to the car and i was very happy with how it had turned out but this didnt last I had been working very hard to get it ready for a local jap event in the south east, i had met up with a few other drivers and we drove over to the venue i barely gave it the beans as there was so many of us we had to wait for peaple to catch up from getting stuck at light etc, I got to the front gates and the car started to run a bit lumpy on idle and was nearly rev dependant then the smoke started, i took it into the grounds were me and a freind looked to see if i had put a hose on the wrong way round or boost pipe loose we found nothing, So i left it and crossed my fingers for the way home started the car was running ok then half way home all hell broke loose dropped a cylinder and smoke was bellowing out from everywere , popped to a freind near buy and took the spark plugs out cylender 3 was full of oil not good, i thought to my self ringland failure, so called the AA out to recover it to my house, then bought alot of beer and drowned my sorrows all my hard work for one day , woke up in the morning with a hangover and decided i wasnt going to giv up on it, and decided to forge her with lots of added jdm goodness making it into a full blown track car, i decided a good budget would be around 5k, as you will see this figure went out the window lol

after 6months saving an researching parts started to arrive new fidanza flywheel ACT paddle clutch (not surficiant enough!) and then decided to buy some hks high lift cams 264' pulleys and belt New hks bov i polished chromed the cross brace
full toyota gasket set decided against the hks HG as had hurd about to many failures with them and decided on a cometic multi layerd head gasket full engine stainless bolt set another big bag of stainless alen key bolts oil catch can hks polished bov 3s gte oil pump everything iv received so far lol
had a result on ebay 5x toyota trd oil filters for 1.99p :thumleft: toyota trd low temp thermostat HKS fuel cut defencer

I popped up the garage to work on the car the engine is all dropped out along wiv gearbox,intercooler,turbo,exhaust,accileries Yet again my plans hav been put back due to unforseen failure. well were shall i start well the transmition was best described aswell mullerd an as for the diff that was plain f***ed wasnt surprising considering it had put up with abuse for nearly 20years with an extra bhp runnin throu it, Then we moved on to checking the turbo,stupidly i assumed that it would be fine as its was only replaced last year for a brand new hyrid turbocharger from turbotechnics,we checked the shaft an saw there was upto 0,9mm play which is to excesive especialy for the age, after more exsamination we noticed the blades had actuely hit the hounsing cousing sum to bend an chip needless to say i pissed , we now need to do more investigating to figure out the actual cause of the engine faulure, i.e was it due to turbo internal faulure cause foreighn objects to go inside the engine causing valve/piston, bore damgage, or was it caused by the ringland snapping on cylinder 3 causing metal particles to go into the oil feed to the turbo bearing/internals causing the turbo failure. after all that we noticed the brake master cylender wasnt workin correctly so a new one is needed from toyota and they dont come cheap! but wot does these days... well as for the gearbox iv sourced a new gts gearbox with a 1.5way cusco diff from japan to suite needless to say it was damn exspensive!!! now i have the joy of arguin my case to the manager of turbotechnics no doubt they arnt goin to want to admit responsabilty so untill i find the actual cause tho project has cum to a holt :censored: :censored: :censored: irl keep you all updated with further details im off to toyota to get raipped on a master cylinder...
