Thought id post this up, see what people think of my plans :)

Always wanted to learn to drift, especially after going to a few JDMAS competitions through the summer. So got this about 2 months ago specifically to have fun in, and also learn to drift... However from spinning around on our local airfield and doing Crail last weekend now I'm hooked!

Basically i wanted a PS13 but realised I'd be too scared of smashing it to drive it properly... enter the cheap s14. Got it from the south coast, very clean and low mileage (never been welded and underneath looks pristine), had an engine rebuild with oversize pistons, a GT28r and an exhaust and air filter, although still running standard map and boost.

The plan: turn it into a capable drift and track car with around 300bhp but still comfortable enough to drive to/from events. Keep standard bodywork cos its cheap to replace when i smash it due to inexperience :p

Once i sell my punto and buy a cheaper daily i will have enough free cash to "finish" the car off over the winter - I really want to do more DWYB days at Crail and try mallory park as well.

    Current spec:

    ENGINE MODIFICATIONS :

(not sure here what is definite - "apparently" forged pistons, strengthened lightened balanced con rods, flat planned race crank, new bearings throughout, lightened and balanced flywheel, ap paddle clutch, ported polished and gas flowed cylinder head, bronze valve guides, nismo steel head gasket, nismo tc gasket kit throughout, garrett gt roller bearing turbo, s/steel exhaust, induction kit, new tappets, new timing chain. But not many receipts to prove it all!)

    What i know so far:

    - Wiseco oversize pistons
    - Garrett GT28R turbo
    - cat-back 2.5" stainless exhaust
    - AP Racing Paddle clutch
    - Cone filter
    - New timing chain

    So far I have fitted:
    - FMIC
    - Walbro 255lph pump
    - Braided turbo hoses
    - 3" turbo elbow
    - Koyorad alloy radiator
    - ARC bling titanium ducting panel

    INTERIOR:

    - Nismo kickplates and gearknob
    - fly-off handbrake
    - Oil temp and pressure, and boost guages

    CHASSIS:

    - Daiyama fully adjustable coilovers
    - Driftworks rear camber arms
    - Toyosport rear toe arms
    - VLSD shimmed +0.8mm
    - Lenso pimptastic wheels with gay spec fitment
    - grooved discs all round

    ICE:

    - Sony HU with 6 CD changer in boot
    - Infinity components all round

This is what it looked like when i got it

Stuff pile - mostly fitted now

    Now it looks like this

    FUTURE MODS:

uprated manifold, 3" downpipe, and possibly change the rest of the system to 3" as well
    HD stage 1a chip
    Oil cooler
    bigger baffled sump
    Rocker arm stoppers
    Hydraulic handbrake
    air con removed
    short shifter
spare welded diff (eventually to be replaced by a 1.5 or 2 way diff)
polybush the rear subframe and diff, fit the uprated gearbox/engine mounts
longer track rods and rack spacers for more lock (eventually)
    uprated front brakes
    steering wheel
recaro seats of some sort - looking at CTR/ITR seats atm
    Possibly a cage - eventually

...and MUCH nicer wheels than what it has now :( It has some pretty gash wheels on at the back for now since i smashed up one of the lensos doing something stupid.

Anyways... not sure if to do anything with the looks. I like it the way it is, but I'm well aware its one of the most boring looking cars ever :(

cheers :) am thinking i paint my other set of alloys some suitably garish colour, like flourescent orange/yellow/pink, but not sure, might just look stupid...

These are the gashtastic wheels i picked up by mistake

So to be fair they cant get much worse...

ha, just had to search to see if i had a build thread or not.

wow, my car has came a long way since then.

nearly 4 years I've had this car, no plans to get rid cos it's solid and I love it. Even though its only been out of the shed a handful of times in the last two years...

    spec:

    bulletproofed engine
    mix-up of aero
    spazzy purple

    Cheers guys.

Gibbo, I would tell you, but it took a bit of work to find a stock colour like this, i'm not hiding it but i think it's only fair you do your own research :)

So I got very sick of my car sitting as a garage ornament for the last year and a half. And I want to enjoy it.
So the plan is to get it road legal at the end of this month (after the salt has gone), make it a little more comfortable and civilized, and erm... take it to the Nurburgring at the end of April :wack:

    so...

    In the (poor) light

Numberplate fitted :( also indicators in the sidelights.

Did a few little tidy up jobs in the engine bay... full 3" inlet pipe from MAF to turbo now, as well. Still some tidying to do (like get rid of the fail stock battery box)

Reworked the brakes... with 2 years out from MOT checks I thought it was due a refresh... driftworks braided hoses all round, a fresh LHS rear caliper and some new copper hard piping to replace some crusty steel lines!

    Old

    New

Federal RSRs fitted to the Manarays and refitted all round

Made a stainless battery box with isolator

Bought a Tomei Trax 2 way diff from Tknutter

shotblasted and painted the pumpkin and a pair of s14 driveshafts today. Just need shaft bolts (I still have the r33 diff and shafts, completely lost the s14 bolts, bah :( )

Today I finished fitting a new lock set all round, since only one door lock out of 3 ever worked off the (1) key. Now i have 2 keys that work all the locks and ignition :)

So... MOT my daily driver next week, then the week after, put this on the road and MOT :) just a few more little things to do. Can't wait!
