Can someone please link me, or explain to me all the differences between L-Reg and N-Reg cars and all the other crap? My transfer has just been accepted so i'm moving pretty soon, and am pretty keen to grab something from powervehicles when what im looking for comes up, the thing is I have no idea on your legal system. Over here you need, WOF, Warrant of Fitness to drive on the road, which is renewed every 6 months, and regostration, which is paided 3 monthly, 6 monthly or 12 monthly. Cheers boys.
Well a good starting point would be to get a UK driving license, everything after that is quite straight forward.
Cool Right, the reg number refers to the year of first registration They used to change every year but now it's every 6 months. It goes as follows: Suffix Letter Year A Feb 1963 - Dec 1963 B Jan 1964 - Dec 1964 C Jan 1965 - Dec 1965 D Jan 1966 - Dec 1966 E Jan 1967 - July 1967 F Aug 1967 - July 1968 G Aug 1968 - July 1969 H Aug 1969 - July 1970 J Aug 1970 - July 1971 K Aug 1971 - July 1972 L Aug 1972 - July 1973 M Aug 1973 - July 1974 N Aug 1974 - July 1975 P Aug 1975 - July 1976 R Aug 1976 - July 1977 S Aug 1977 - July 1978 T Aug 1978 - July 1979 V Aug 1979 - July 1980 W Aug 1980 - July 1981 X Aug 1981 - July 1982 Y Aug 1982 - July 1983 Suffix i.e AHF 496H Prefix Letter Year A Aug 1983 - July 1984 B Aug 1984 - July 1985 C Aug 1985 - July 1986 D Aug 1986 - July 1987 E Aug 1987 - July 1988 F Aug 1988 - July 1989 G Aug 1989 - July 1990 H Aug 1990 - July 1991 J Aug 1991 - July 1992 K Aug 1992 - July 1993 L Aug 1993 - July 1994 M Aug 1994 - July 1995 N Aug 1995 - July 1996 P Aug 1996 - July 1997 R Aug 1997 - July 1998 S Aug 1998 - Feb 1999 T Mar 1999 - Aug 1999 V Sep 1999 - Feb 2000 W Mar 2000 - Aug 2000 X Sep 2000 - Feb 2001 Y Mar 2001 - Aug 2001 Prefix i.e. R952 KDS After that it went into the new format where the NUMBER represents the date, the first number represents whether it was the first or last part of the year and the second denotes the year itself, they are as follows: 51 Sep 2001 - Feb 2002 02 Mar 2002 - Aug 2002 52 Sep 2002 - Feb 2003 03 Mar 2003 - Aug 2003 53 Sep 2003 - Feb 2004 04 Mar 2004 - Aug 2004 54 Sep 2004 - Feb 2005 05 Mar 2005 - Aug 2005 55 Sep 2005 - Feb 2006 06 Mar 2006 - Aug 2006 56 Sep 2006 - Feb 2007 07 Mar 2007 - Aug 2007 57 Sep 2007 - Feb 2008 08 Mar 2008 - Aug 2008 58 Sep 2008 - Feb 2009 09 Mar 2009 - Aug 2009 59 Aug 2009 - Feb 2010 i.e. GK53 HTK Road tax is about £160 per year and can be paid either 6 monthly or annually All cars over three years old need an M.O.T which is the same as your warrant of finess thingy. That needs to be renewed every year.
GSXRMarky, don't need one. NZ = Commonwealth Can use my NZ license for 2 years max, as i've got residency. TwinturboCH, awesome thanks. What insurance like? I'll be looking at something turbo thats for sure, so insurance for a 20 year old male? Have owned 6 single and twin turbo cars so far, had insurance for them all.
When I came back from switzerland I told all the companies that I had been driving the car for two years over there, some took it into account and gave me a little discount, others didn't, it's just a case of phoning around It won't be cheap though, expect it to be over £1000 on an s-body
BALLS! That's like $3000NZD. Shit I better be earning good money. Someone in IT hook me up with a good paying job lol.
£1000 for fully comp, i reckon you could get an s14 or s13 for about £600-£800 third party if you shop around. the NZ driving licencse may push it up though, might be worth getting a UK one anyway.
Wouldnt count on it. 20, 0 ncb on an S body could result in rediculous insurnace, esp without a UK licence.
Thats what I was thinking. When I was his age I couldn't get it lower than £1200 no matter how hard i tried. That was with a years no claims, it was only tpft and it was 4 years ago before all the crashes people were having started to up the premium If I was in the same situation now it would prob be £1400+
didnt realise he had 0 no claims if so then i think in todays climate i think that its not gonna happen. a quick quote search reveals that no none specialists would even look at it.
I was a bawhair off £1k at 20 on an s13, with a years no claims. It'll probably be pretty expensive, but then so will the majority of nice drifty stuff I'd guess.
for an idea my ITR cost me £2300 a year to insure, with mods declared and 2 years no claims at 20. expect to pay shit loads!!
Holy mary mother of jesus....... Let me guess the price would be the same on a N/A 86? To give you an idea, I pay $1300NZD, which is about £500 for full cover rated up to $14,000 (£5500) for a RB20DET'd S13 Silvia. I've got several place where I could live, South Woodham Ferrers, Billericay, Wickford and Rochford. What's needed for a UK License?
AE86 prices have gone thro the roof....expect to pay 5000 for a good one. Loads is now needed for a uk license, pratical test (you need at least a minimum number of lessons before hand now), theory test with incorperated video awareness test.....none of that is cheap....even if you do take the test, your insurance will still be very high as when you phone them up, you have to tell them how long you've had a UK license. My advice.....get a nice little Honda CRX Vtec to buzz about in , a lot cheaper to insure being only group 12.....not rwd i know....but cool cars!
Only honda i'd drive would be an S2000......I roll in style not in a fucking pile. LOL. Thanks mate, will have to see what my options are. Hopefully ill find myself a nice NA Rx3 or something.
