Hi guys, My neighbour has a Silver MR2 (Mk1) sitting on his drive and he wants rid. The car is totally immaculate, everything is orginal and under the hoods is mint. I think its pretty much got full service history but its also got every mot since its first one in 1989 !!! The car has done 98k, interior is also mint...but blue its the 1.6 petrol engine The car came off the road in 2007, The owner drove it up the street and let it tick over for a year until the battery died. However in 2008 the battery went dead and it hasnt been run since. I've had a look and i can see that the drivers floor seems a ok, its already had a patch on the inner arch at the front so seems solid. The passenger side is going to need a bit of welding on floor plan and a patch on inner arch as a hole has started to appear. The only other bit that could need some work is the rear wheel arch on the drivers side. But other than that its surprising solid and rust free. I've had a look at the engine, and attempted to get it started: - There is compression - There is a spark - It turns over fine, no issues, - However it wont start, If you use a little easy start it will fire straight up but then die quickly. On investigation, it seems that the fuel pump isn't priming. I've checked the fuse and it seems fine. Im unsure whether its a relay or the pump itself is dead. I see no reason why it wont run at all, once the pump is sorted. You'll honestly not believe how clean it is until you see it, it will be a real shame if this gets scrapped or broken He's after £300, Lots of Photos here: http://s83.photobucket.com/albums/j317/magicmat_1985/for sale/MR2/?start=all Cheers Matt
I recon its going to need work fella, i could probably get it running, but the passenger floor pan feels crusty from underneath
Where abouts in Pontefract mate? My best mate is after some cosmetic bits for his, I'll pass on the details.
This could be great fun for cheaps! Make a MK1.2 with a 3SGE/3SGTE engine and have many many fun times.
Ponte aint very big fella, if your mate gets in touch with me i'll obviously arrange for him to come through. Thats it, get it bought people !
It's big enough to want to know whether we could get away with tugging it or if we'd need a transporter. We both have MK1 MR2s already, and we dont want the guys address, bank details, sort code and pant size...just a rough area.
I imagine they are a bit seized mate, its been stood 3 years, but im sure i could free them off enough to get it onto a trailer or wagon etc
