Hi there. I thought i better get my lazy arse on here and make a build/progress thread!! First i want to start by thanking all my mates, mates mates, and mates mates mates for helping me build this car! also big thanks to joe at wisdom mechanical (07809 408 482) for all the late nights, letting me use your garage, putting up with my shit etc etc etc and a big thankyou to Nev at F1 MOTO (07717 442 372) for all the custom 1 off parts, advice, use of tools etc etc etc without all you lot it would be the same car, would of just taken longer Right, the car...its a ferrari 360 spider, in the shape of a white volvo 340 :/ this picture taken the day i got her! standard looking volvo 340 1.4 with f7p conversion 1.4 gearbox with welded diff 2" lowering blocks gay seats out of a gay fiesta gay stickers all over the car gay steel wheels I got the car, showed a few mates, they laughed at me, i told them they had no vision, they called a mental hospital etc etc etc so, the modding started, i bought 2 of these... yeah, there pink i liked them...alot! i also like yellow lights...alot!! so i put some on... yes, i know...it looks mega gay...but if you think that...you have no vision either got myself one of these from ebay... fitted... the steel wheels were really letting the pimp side down...they had to go!! im a massive fan of revos on these motors, and thats what i wanted to go for!! unfortunatly i didnt have the funds for the sizes i wanted, plus these bad boys come up cheap... there painted in chalk board black...yes, you can draw little cocks on them and write i am gay!! they transformed the car... so now i had a fairly cool looking volvo that didnt move anywhere without it being pushed!! it looked like this... it needed a little bit of tinkering, fuel pump wireing few electrical issues, service etc then 3 days later she started right up was a day of mixed emotions as 20 mins later, she was like this... although she started right up, it wouldnt engage any gear! me and the mad scientist stripped the prop off, took the bell housing off to find the melon who previously owned the car covered the clutch in copper slip... new clutch and about an hour later, not only did it start, it fucking moved!!! i had to wait a while to enjoy the car, i needed a few little bits, tax and test... The car at F1Moto waiting for MOT Happy was an understatement...in my opinion, the car looked pimp!! it got looks evrywhere it went...
i was really happy with the car, it just needed a few bits... A proper bucket seat and harness, not some gay fiesta seat!! i got a cheap cobra seat from Nev, took the side mounts out the car and bolted the seat to the floor!! (proper low, i have to push the wipers down or i cant see haha) needed a hydro...plumbed in by joe, parts supplied by nev then all it needed then was a propper good clean painted boot... with harness... at this point in time, i was propper happy, the car seemed reliable, skidded fairly well in the dry, very well in the wet, my bollocks got big ran out of skills and hit Mr kerb!! i was slightly gutted!! i fucked my wheel, changed lower arm, changed strut...and changed the wheels..................... picture taken when fixing the car...the very next day!! i fucking love the car on these wheels!! so now...i had a seriously pimp looking volvo that skids fairly well, its clean in the bay, and bodyworks spot on!! or so i thought...
after a decent night streeto, i came out in the morning to find this... i blew a hole in the bottom end, quite impressed it actually drove me home so...new engine needed!! i was looking around for a while to see what i could get, this little gem popped up fairly cheap, f7P 1.8 clio engine Piper cams Piper vernier pullys seriously ported head rebuilt by Hill power so...i got it I was kinda pissed about the oil spitting all over the bay, so the whole thing needed to be cleaned top to bottom again!! after a day of cleaning, and half a day putting the engine back in she looked like this... clean engine... after a week or so looked like this... some whoreing pics... could be an add for volvo 20 years ago... I then got the car all set up running nice rolling road print out of 165bhp which i am well pleased with!! i was really happy with the car as it was, but now, im at the stage id like to compete!! i needed a better set up!! stay tuned people for the progress...and let me know what you guys think. Dan
looking good! needs lowering though im going to be selling some 4x100 13x6 revo's soon that were fitted to my polo, putting some 7.5j and 8.5j banded steels on you see ;D
cheers mate, it certanly does need more lows...thats why you may like the next update! 13x6 is way to small. sorry mate
Ok so i have a few updates already So i drove the car to Nevs, for some major work! Its never nice taking a engine out in this weather... but we cracked on, about an hour later, i had a huge lump on my head and the engine ws out! ...i got the lump by hitting myself with a hammer :/ When the engine was out, nev got hes thinking cap on, made a nice list then monday morning we were off to rally design!! mk2 escort quick rack steering (has to be modified my nev) mk2 escort 5 link rear suspension (again modified by nev) the front shocks are at gaz for the coilover conversion...(ring nev and speak to him for good deals ) will be running gaz shocks on the rear also, all rose joints!! you may notice there are some rather sexy looking trumpets in the pic aswell... Im going for twin 40 carbs and getting rid of the bike carbs, not for any kind of performance mod, or smoother running, just fancied a change so after getting a seriously smart linkage from RD and fitting the trumpets, the carbs look like this... seriously sexy lookingg carbs obviously now i needed a manifold as the bike carb one was different, a mate of mine had a nice manifold made by bogg brothers, brand new, never had fuel run through it... Nev decided it was the wrong angle so he went to work as the manifold was made for a clio, the clio engine when in a clio is sat tilted, so the mani had to be cut and re welded for the carbs to sit right when in the volvo! Again...top work by nev!
then it was that time again...time to clean!! i cleaned the car, silly move, in about a minute it turned into an ice cube!! but really needed to clean the bay AGAIN looking seriously dirty!! a little bit of this... and it came up lovely... still needs waxing, but thats a job for the day time and slightly walmer weather!! yesterday, these arrived for the coilovers so thats the progress up to now, hopfully have the shocks back from gaz next week, and all the steering and suspension all done!! let me know what you think! Dan
