Well, seeing as the BMW is near enough finished, and I need something to fill my spare time with as I’m trying to save money, figured I best buy something that I can work on over winter ready for next year’s ODC, so I bought myself an S13 from a very pleasant gentleman on here :) so off we trotted 103 miles away to collect the car of my nightmares :p

The car was advertised honestly, requiring welding and a fuel pump, which sounded perfect to me cus I’m going to SR20DET it anyway, and the welding is what’s gonna keep me busy in the months to come, but I wanted to make sure the CA18DET ran before I bought it so I made sure we had some easy start to hand and a battery to crank it over with, and et voila, it started fine, no knocks or strange noises, only the clutch wouldn’t engage properly which I thought a bit strange at the time..but I was happy with my purchase so I paid the cash and took the car home.

It has got a bit of rot but nowhere near as bad as what I was imagining if I’m being honest, I was expecting rotten chassis legs, rotten rear sills, rotten everything pretty much, but turns out its only got a small amount of rot on the drivers chassis leg, the battery tray is non existant, and the rear of the drivers sill.. oh and ofcourse the tailgate, with a few small patches here and there, but mostly it appears quite solid

    Plans are simple..

    Ca18DET comes out
    Weld the rust/rot
Tub the arches (one way of ridding the rot lol)
    Paint the Bay
    Fit Hydro
    Drop SR20DET in
    Get Running
Fibreglass front wings (there a bit rotten already)
    Sort something out re: boot
    Suspension
    Wheels
    Bucket Seat
    Happy Days.

I Immediately got started after getting it home, after sorting the fuel pump out and getting it running sweet (had to be sure) I reversed it into a wall then removed the engine with the help of a friend :)

Got the engine out, and found out why the clutch wasnt engaging..

Now ill bombard the thread with pics of the rust :'(

to be fair, and looking at other threads, NORFY's s13 had more rust than this, its mostly solid and covered in surface crap, the actual rot is rather minimal, but i will sort it either way, and you will Victim, seeing as my gate has already stoved in the quarter i'm sure wheels wont mind xD

been shopping today anyway, got an S14 engine loom, S14 ECU with H-Dev stage 1 chip (didnt want this but it helps cus meanss its 270-280 BHP fromt he word go, and the fuelling should be 'economical' Lol), and a stainless 4 branch..just cus it was cheap and there :)

woop woop! someone buy this CA anyways :)

to be brutally honest lop the battery tray out and move that to the boot, fix the chassis rails and it probably wont be to bad, the holes in the boot plated over will be fine then drift it for gods sake!
the e30 is to clean for wheels man!

Fuck that, it's a mess. Full drift slag and keep the E30 as a lifestyler daily if you wanna do that.

ill just confirm before it gets out of hand.. it was never gonna be lifestyler :)

just replacing the rot with less rot and the rust with fibreglass, and the ever so reliable ca18 with a powerhouse sr20 and give the quarter a real reason to be battered :)
