Hey Been interested in drifting for a while never tried it lol Always had modified cars Did have a vectra SRI diesel mapped lol and now i have decided to go back to UNI and so sold it for some funds and bought a bora which i just lowered for a grand posted some pics of the cars below incase anyones interested haha doubt it Anyway i have decided to sell up and get a cheap drift car but i have no idea where to start. I'm not going to do much to it probs just coilovers or springs and maybe wheels. Just want to give it a go really. Dont want to spend anymore than a £1000 really anyone any suggestions on what to get? Cars if your interested! Love detailing btw
MX5 is the obvious one. 400quid will get you one with a long MOT, 50-100quid will get diff welded (inc remove and refit), 100-150 will get you a bucket seat, 30-40quid will get you some spare wheels with tyres, 50-100 will be enough to pay someone to fit rack spacers and get the front toe re-alligned, leaving you a good few hundred to spend on drift days and fuel, job done. Dont bother spending on suspension etc IMO. More than good enough to pull 3rd in the dry once you got used to it. If you in to detailing then drifting goes totally against what you like as you gonna be driving filthy smashed up sheds!
So you wanting to use it on the road still aswell?, I'd of said cheap BMW is ur best bet...personally I hate mx5s You could Possibly get a dog of s13 Other cheap things old rwd Volvo Old siera not much power like. N/a r33
The bora aint exactly a dream car is it lol detailing isnt pride of place atm and i enjoy driving sheds if there clean Really not a fan of mx5's although it may have to be an option at those prices Was thinking more like a saloon car dont care what it is as long as its rwd was thinking like nissan saloon's and the like any help much appreciated
Will you get a decent E36 325+ and have the money for a bucket/welder/coilovers/whatever for under a grand? The mods alone will take up half the budget even buying ebay shit.
You must be mad lol. An mx5 is more expensive to insure than a 325 Mx5's are amazing to drive and pretty god straight out of the box but are slightly more tricky to learn in (which isn't a bad thing) Get a 325 (or 323 - 328 if you cant find a 2.5) if you want a good daily/reliable drifter and for £1k or less, you can get some decent pre drift preped ones
I think you proberbly could tbh if you wanted to get everything very low budget. Tbh I was thinking basically just the car with a welded diff the rest he could get later, well saying that if you want to buy any old shite u can get a cobra bucket for £40
Cheers for all the help guys. This may be a ridiculous question but i take it you cant drift in a diesel?????
Right place at the right time with this one I think.... A mate went out and bought a 325 E36 the other month for £400, car was all straight, bit of rust starting on the arches but nothing nasty, and it had been preped for drift but the lad ran out of money and time to do any events! 130k miles (ish), included, 18" rims, welded diff, lock spaces, bucket seat, harness, hydro and drift wheel to go on. he bought it as spairs for his E36, but has now turned it in to a pickup as he was board on his week off!! Jono
If you on about a diesel, IMO get a Mercedes C250 Turbo Diesel. Mega lock as standard, drift brilliant, and standard internals is proven at over 400bhp (not like you'll be getting that without some serious upgrades mind). Or a bit of a 'safer' (ie every cunt has one) choice, a E36 325TDS
volvo 940 2.0 turbo £595 (probably get it for £500 or less) VOLVO 940 2.0 SE TURBO 5DR Estate for sale in Southampton | Auto Trader £15 for a manual boost controller BLUE UNIVERSAL IN-CAR MANUAL TURBO BOOST CONTROLLER VALVE KIT BN | eBay £50 for a decent Recaro: New Old Stock 70s/80s Recaro Reclining Bucket Seat - Never Used! | eBay £100 to drop the rear panhard rod, remove diff cover and weld up and cut the springs pimp it up with some jag wheels and tyres, use the originals to skid on - £200 Jaguar alloy wheels | eBay Have fun for £850ish That was with a 2.3 turbo but the boost was standard. plenty quick enough. wall tapped twice and did fuck all damage.
