well its a nearly year since my last post and sadly i haven't finished it due to house restorations and my baby girl being born but now i have started back on it and im determined to finish it this year also i have another baby on the way here's the link to the old one http://www.driftworks.com/forum/technical/164939-my-first-mk2-escort-build-so-far.html?highlight= so......all i got left to do is a full engine rebuild, brakes, fuel system, and rear suspension along with interior and little bits so i thought first sort the brakes i worked out the front are m16 so im happy with that for now i have taken the rear axle off for refurb so i dismantled and grinned the rust off so i thought i would do the rear shoes the same time........ my problem is i dont know what shoes, springs or cylinders to get, the markings on the drum are 228.4 max which is 9" max so do that mean i have 9" drums or 8" the next thing i found was i measured an old shoe i found and it worked out 203 x 45mm which are for 8" drums any ideas
i also have a ported and polished big valve head being made i was going for the 2.1 engine build but the bores looked good and thought keep costs down stay with a 2.0 im thinking of running bike carbs
will be getting some poly bump stops soon i also gave my diff a clean and paint good job the wife did'nt catch me lol
Are they supposed to be on top ?? If so I'll change them around when I get some poly bump stop's Thanks
i hope this is an unleaded head valves are 44.5/38.1 slight port and polish going to be running a standard cam off the old head for now just want to get the car done and on the road
will be buying more little bits next month now running low on funds just head bolts fuel lines and timing belt kit
after a hard few weeks i lost my job but now got another im going to be focusing on the engine just ordered a high pressure oil pump and vht spray so tomorrow will be a clear out in the garage scrub the engine block ready for painting then fit the oil pump, pistons, clean the head and bolt together, then with a new timing belt and water pump i can turn it over keeping it oiled up
