Flipping freezing wasn't the word! Paula was there to capture some pit and queue shots for me along with the lovely Jo and our good friend Lee (thanks for the photos of me). Paula lasted about 15 minutes before face planting on the ice, leaving her with a cut on her cheek (oops). So she had the rest of the day off photo duties. Was great to catch up with the DWYB regulars and check out some new drivers in the pens. After lunch I decided to man up to the conditions and have a go in the BP MX5, hitting the top track for the first time. I was pretty impressed with how it went considering it's bog standard with a seat. More mods to come should sort it nicely. Yeah, the fog was a bit of a nightmare. Cranked the contrast right up on the camera. Still had to tweak a few of the examples above to bring out a bit of definition though. It made the day when a few drivers still had time to come and look at the pics. Plus, I got to do a few runs on the big track to see how the BPMX5 goes prior to any drifty mods. Ian.
Nice pics dude! Maybe worth not cropping them in so close so you get more of the car/track/mood etc. (the reason why they are sideways/where it's going and come from)
Cheers, The original photos are not necessarily cropped to the extent the above examples are. I like to centre the examples around the car and get in close with the crop to show the level of clarity of the car itself. When I do the crops for signatures you can see how much extra space there is in 'some' of the pics like here: I like to use a 100 - 400mm lens to allow me to chase the cars from through multiple bends from a single vantage point. When cars are close there isn't the option of much background, unless I have two cameras swinging round my neck. I am often up against it time wise trying to capture a minimum 30 pics of 70 plus cars = 2100 photos of decent clarity. It's challenging but lots of fun at the same time. Ian.
That's fair enough, I see your point. Everybody has their own style of shooting hey! Yes a full day of shooting is tough, then it's a fixed position at the office lol. Good work anyways and hope we cross paths one day
Wednesday's DWYB was a very cold affair, seeing the mercury only rising as high as one degree! With a fully booked DWYB there is always a bit more pressure trying to make sure I get some nice shots of everyone. With such cold weather I was really pleased that so many people still had the time to pop along and see what we'd captured. Was cool to see so many MX5's along and word on the net is there will be a big MX5 turnout at the next one on 9th March too.
