Just wondering what cars experienced drifters would struggle getting sideways ,I've not actually entered a drift day yet but raced bangers for ages and found Volvo 240's and especially 340's hard to get the back out as the front digs in and the rear wheels just lift ,obviously with a locked diff they all step out but most RWD do OK with out . So whats the top 5 crap drift cars just so I don't pick one as my first proper drift ride [looking at doing a 230 kompressor merc or MK2 Granny at the mo]
Only cars I can think of which would be unusable in standard form are new cars with un switchable traction control. Otherwise anything will be fine really, the diff is the main thing!
I used to drift a Volvo 360 that was totally stock barring a welder n drivers bucket seat, it cost me 50quid n drifted fine on stock wonbly high suspension. Lots of cars with a half decent diff drift ok totally standard, but pointless imo leaving something stock when even a decent diff n bucket seat will make em thousand times better. The c230 kompressor you mentioned is a case in point, useless standard with open diff, but as my old one shown, few minor mods n a welded diff n it was a real weapon.
I find any volvo easier to drift than BMW's. Maybe that is because my first drift cars were the 940? and the 340
yeah I'd say it's down to the diff more than anything most rwd road cars might swell be one wheel drive
My brothers mate called Dave has got one with a 700bhp Supra engine and it's a wicked drift car! Ha ha
i drove a merc 190e 2.0 8v with a welder and it was easier to drift than my m3 evo was!! NEVER assume power is the main thing to look for
