For sale is My 1998 Mazda MX5 S NB MK2 1.8 that's finished in Highlight silver and has only covered 91,000M.
Being the S it comes with electric windows, electric mirrors, central locking etc
    MOT’d until 06/05/2016 (no advisories)

This car is very special and is not to be confused with some of the other cheaper Turbo’d MX5’s out there- although the car is still road legal she has been built primarily with drifting in mind and therefore had to be done properly in order to withstand the strain that drift cars are exposed to.

A lot of money has been spent on getting the car to its current state and as it stands she could be used as a track car / drift car right off the bat- the car has been tested at an airfield and let’s just say she did not disappoint!

Below is the cars current spec:
Professionally built semi forged, lower compression, turbo charged BP engine( has only covered 5k since being built)

-BP block acid dipped, cylinder bores honed
-Cylinder head acid dipped, de-squished and valves de-shrouded
-Crank Polished , ACL main & big end bearings
-Max Speeding forged steel con rods
    -New piston rings
    -Cometic MLS head gasket
    -New gaskets and seals throughout
    -Upgraded Oil pump gear
-New cambelt, tensioner , waterpump & pulleys
    -Denso 450cc yellow injectors
-SYNTEC fuel pressure regulator with analogue gauge
    -Toyota coil pack conversion
-Coolant re-route kit to aid cooling
-Custom made stainless steel, tig welded turbo exhaust manifold
    -Rebuilt T28 pulsar turbo
-TIAL 38mm external wastegate with screamer pipe
    -ITG air filter
-Flywheel skimmed & stage 4, 6 puk competition clutch
-Custom tig welded large bore stainless steel exhaust system with Magnaflow backbox
    -Wallbro 255 fuel pump
-Custom tig welded stainless steel intercooler pipes / front mount intercooler
    -Driftworks Large aluminium rad
    -APS oil cooler
    -Mishi moto power steering cooler
    -Silicon hoses
    -Braided steel fuel lines
    -MICROSQUIRT PNP ECU
    -Gizzmo MS2 EBC
-Innovate air/fuel ratio gauge & wideband o2 sensor
-HKS Boost / Oil pressure gauges
    - 5 speed gearbox rebuilt
    -1.5 way Torsen rear diff
-Gaz gold Pro adjustable coilovers with multi click damper adjustment
-5 race rear 4 point roll bar
-Cobra Monaco bucket seats with OMP support pads & Sparco 3 point harnesses
    -OMP dished suede steering wheel
-White Eurosport 15” alloy wheels with brand new Toyo proxes T1R’s

The above set up was mapped at M-tech on 02/10/14 and produced 227.9bhp running 0.8bar boost. Although the boost could have been increased and the engine setup is good & safe for 350+hp it was decided that the transmission & diff wouldn't handle that kind power for a prolonged period of time so it was decided that roughly 230bhp would yield enough power which the transmission could happily deal with.

The tuner also suggested that If the transmission was upgraded and the car was remapped with higher boost levels to achieve 350bhp+ it might be beneficial in advance to replace the exhaust manifold for a tubular unit to increase exhaust flow which would in turn increase the speed up of the spool.

The suspension geometry / wheel alignment was set up for drifting at MX5 specialists wheels in motion.

Driving this car is a pure adrenaline rush- 227.9 bhp in a car weighing 1000kg is very fast and fun to say the least- she will loose traction at the rear easily in second and third gear if pushed, yet remains nimble and predictable for fast track use.
The driving experience is raw and exciting- the steering is responsive, gear change is silky smooth, the exhaust tone is crisp and the screamer pipe sounds amazing! This car isn’t for the faint hearted and is a bit of an animal but if you are a bit of an adrenaline junky this amazing car could be for you.

The general condition of the rest of the car is very good, the roof was replaced a couple of years ago, bodywise there are only 2 minor pin dents, a small bit of paint bubbling to the edge of the tailgate and a few very minor age related marks. The chassis, sills and arches are solid and rot free-considering this car is 18 years old it really is a very good example!

The only points I would mention are that the bucket seats are quite old and worn but do the job, the passenger window is a bit slow going up and down but I think this is just the rubber channel needing lubricating and the suspension has been set-up for drifting so can be a bit twitchy at high speeds, so if you intend to use the car regularly on the road or track, especially at high speed I would recommend getting it realigned for fast road use instead to increase high speed stability.

The bucket seats are quite a snug fit and hug you when you sit in them so if you have a slightly larger frame I have a pair of standard MX5 Cloth seats/ seatbelts that I am more than happy to exchange for the buckets.

The only reason I am selling the car, is that she isn't getting used at the moment due to me not having enough spare time due to work commitments and unfortunately things aren't going to change for the foreseeable future, hence it’s time for someone else to enjoy her who has a bit more time on their hands and can drive her regularly to get the most out of this awesome little bit of kit!

I am happy for potential buyers to view the car and to take them out in it but you will only be allowed to test drive the car yourself if a substantial deposit is given to me for peace of mind.
I am open to sensible offers but silly ones will be ignored as I am in no hurry to sell this car.

    Thanks for looking!
