Hey im looking at buying a car at the moment and it has a stock 1jz in it. Wanted to know how good these engines are if they have been looked after? this one has 82k on it and worried thats a bit high, its had the belts done about 4k miles ago. Do these go much past 100k?
The 1/2JZ engines are one of the most reliable engine out there. A friend is pushing his 1J Soarer with ~180.000km for about 20.000km´s for now and it´s going strong. It´s a street car with about 560hp with supporting mods. He drives the piss out of it on our Autobahn.
As earlier answers it's really reliable. Used to drive mine to events and drift it and then back home for 2 years. 160 000km. Now single turbo and 524 whp. Soon to up the hp more though not driving it on the road anymore due to legal reasons. Skickat från min SM-G935F via Tapatalk
In what world is 82k high mileage? Its barely past its first cam belt ffs. JZ's are extremely reliable if looked after, but so are almost any other engine. Ive personally seen an Aristo with over 250k running sweet, and a good mate of mine has a Supra with 170k an again, sweet running with excellent compression figures
