Having never owned a 1JZ before let alone work on one I'm pretty hesitant to do any work on it without knowing exactly what I've to do.

There's not really much write up on this subject so presuming it must be as easy as it seems.

Question: is the 1J thermostat as simple to change as taking off the lower pipe, then the 2 nuts on the housing, there you have it?

Or will I have to take off loads of little bits and bobs to provide room? I can get in from the arch as the car has none.. So general engine bay room isn't a problem.

Thanks for any help/info. Much appreciated

Cheers for the reply. Ended up just doing it. Was a nightmare to get the left side nut out because of the power steering pipe.
Think it would have been a lot trickier if the arches were in place though. Car now runs a lot cooler so that's a bonus! :)

My power steering is working off my Aristo water pump. So my power steering is actually on the exhaust side Swampy :)

    Eh? Elaborate.

2J Aristo water pump? Does it provide enough pressure to power the steering? The hydro fan requires nowhere near as much pressure as the steering. I'm interested for sure.

I'm not 100% sure. It was already done when I got the car. I can only assume since the viscous fan gets deleted it would make sense to still use the hydro pump. That gets used for the steering, that way you can also delete the AC and all the power steering bits. Saving weight and space.
