1st Annual Coventry "Airbase" Car Show - October 2nd

Right guys, this is the working air museum I volunteer at when im free and its an ace place, as of the first of september the crew I work with have been gifted the whole museum to run, this is going to be our first big event so please help us make it a good one :)

The show will take place on October the 2nd 2011 at Coventry Airbase.

This show is for **ANY** Classic/Retro/Vintage/Modified/Race or American car that you have.

If you've spent time and money on it, and are proud of it, we want to see it!

Entry is via the West Gate entrance, through Baginton Village. Postcode is CV8 3AZ if you need to Satnav it.

Gate's open at 9am for displaying cars, open to the public at 10am. Gates close at 5pm.

Entrance is £8 for the driver and 1 passenger, and this includes entrance to the museum as well. Additional passengers are £4 each. Non displaying visitors are more than welcome, at a cost of £8 each. Everything is pay on the gate so no need to worry about it now! Pleasure flights are available in several aircraft including the Dragon Rapide, Percival Prentice and Chipmunk, booked through the website.

Please come down and help us make this a success :)

There will be a food/drink on site, and the famous DC6 diner is also open.

Airbase is home to over 30 plus Vintage Aircraft so there is plenty to see and do. A live museum, well stocked gift shop and aircraft arriving and departing all day make this the ideal venue for the show.

Just to add some more depth/incentive, there will be pleasure flying oppertunities in some classic 30s and 40's aircraft so some more good photo oppertunities as they'll be circling overhead :)

Oppertunities to fly in these two

    And aerobatics in this

The Shack and Nimrod pictured above will be open all day to visitors - Dependant on visitor numbers, there "MAY" be a run up of the Shackletons engines but obviously if there are lots of people and cars (which we do want) we wont be able to run her up.

Earlier this year (if we do get to run) x4 37 litre V12's ;) Hopefully she'll have four props hung again!

Hi chap! Although it is technically an airfield - airport is more accurate  Ive proposed the idea of trackdays/skid days to the new owner (peter rigby) and the answer I can tell you would be no without a seconds thought.

Classic flight (now mainly airbase) used to have a yearly airshow with spitfires and other epic warbirds etc, new owners has said that this isnt allowed anymore due to security risks, If they wont allow an airshow, skid/track days are a definite no :(

Ive been thinking about buttering up the bloke that owns bruntingthorpe though ;)

This sounds like it's going to be a great venue and day out fella.. If a static show goes well with no security risks, then so too might a non-static one if you get my drift lol

You never know dude :) You never know.

Im in it 100% for the aircraft, any/all money is going into the continued restoration and running of all the aircraft there  So the more cars that come the better :D

We're hoping for a real mix, classics, modern cars, modifieds, kitcars - anything and everything

The white one pictured above is actually unique in that she's the only shackleton in the world painted in the original antiflash white/costal command colour schemes and she is the only one left that is 100% live and regularly run/serviced and maintained. We're aiming to have her blasting down the runway again by this time next year - she's going into the hangar next march for a complete mainwheel change as well as either a rebuild or replacement of the MLG struts :)

Brakes the whole lot will be done :D then we can see a 38 ton monster with 4, 37 litre twin stage supercharged V12's turning 48 prop blades blasting down the runway with its tail in the air

Tooley - If you dont come to this ill come and put my willy in your ear!
