Hi everyone I really want to use a 1UZ-FE V8 in our next project but don't know a lot about them, Is there a manual transmission that I can mate it with that isn't from a supra?
    Thanks Scott

Well, no matter what you do you are going to be out some cash for an adapter plate..

You may as well, at that point... Bite the bullet and do it once, do it right. R154, or even a W58 for that motor if you look to keep it stock for a bit.

You can use an SR box, Barry with the ke70 at drift land is using an sr box with no problems.
And the strain through the box is a lot less from an NA set up as it it's progressive power/torque curve.
People are using sr box for 400/400 anyway.
I'm not sure how much work was needed to make it fit.

I think that we can get a 2JZ manual transmission pretty cheap, how hard will it be to get it to fit?

You'll need an adapter plate... Then, you will use the 1UZ auto bell housing. I'm not sure what kind of flywheel you will need though. Maybe one of the more knowledgeable toyota fellas will drop through here.

I've looked into this a lot, as I will be using a 1UZFE in my skyline, sod importing stuff it'll cost a fortune. Give the F1 driftmoto guys a call down near Silverstone, they have a custom flywheel and adapter plate kit available for about a grand. It means you can fit a BMW Getrag gearbox behind the 1UZFE, these gearboxes are cheap as chips compared to anything else, easy to get hold of and they are strong as fuck. Their kit means you can use an off the shelf M3 clutch kit as well. All in, I think I have budgeted about £1.5k for the entire conversion.

I think I'm going to use this adaptor with a 350Z gearbox and then get a 4.36 final drive in the future
    1UZFE to 350z adapter plate
now I just need to figure out what to use from the 350z gearbox to the wheels?

That's just the gearbox adapter plate, don't forget to add shipping and about 30% for tax/duties. What are you going to use for flywheel, clutch, clutch release bearing etc? And you know the 350z gearboxes cost at least a grand average, right?

I'm doing a bmw gearbox conversion. It's cheap and unbreakable

530d ZF Gearbox with 1UZ AT bellhouse welded

530d pressure plate + clutch disc

    3SGTE redrilled flywheel

It looks like this at the moment :)

Very interested in your BMW gearbox adaptation.

I cant TIG weld either! Do you have any more details of how you did this?

    Chris.

I went with 350z box with custom 2jz flywheel and machined the bell housing down 13mm

R154 gearbox failed pretty quickly with the turbo 1uz

could be wrong but im sure someone was selling adapter plates to use an is200 6 speed box. Dont know how strong they are mind you but deffo cheap to replace. Boxes usually break due to bad driving style instead of power output anyhow

There are plates for almost any gearbox you can think of.

I do not like the idea of running the modded 3SGTE flywheels that some places sell. Flywheels store a lot of energy in them, having slotted holes feels like a recipe for disaster. I received a quote for a custom flywheel with the right ring gear and any clutch plate pattern I wanted for less than £300. And that's completely bespoke so I could go super light or have a fairly normal weighted wheel. A far better option imo.
