Hey guys, I want to introduce our little beginner project. We are 4 people who do not just want to start with their "good" car. So we got together and built us a pretty decent fun car. We opted for an E34 530i because the parts will be available for later E30 V8 or a 540i - let's see! Here are a few pictures of the reconstruction, which began Monday this week and was finished Friday evening. Saturday we went for the first ride. {} {} {} {} {} {} {} {} {} {} Spec: Engine: - Full Stock M60B30 with 300k+ on the clock - New Plugs, New Oil - Single Sidepipe Drivetrain: - 5 Speed MT - 3.23 Final Ratio - Welded Diff Interieur: - Bucket Seat - Ebay Fly Off (not installed yet) Suspension/Brakes: - New Ebay Rotors and Brakepads - New JOM Ebay "Coilovers" A little Video from yesterday: {} Best Regards, ludi
Little wheel arch work: And some pictures of the hole car: If all goes well, we go next weekend back to practice. Best Regards, ludi
Last weekend there was again a lot of practice time. Unfortunately the soft engine mounts destroy ??the water hose. However, we are very happy with the car, but we will do a lot over the winter! Until next practice we probably done: - new input shaft seal - New motor mount - replace water hose - More practice! Have fun with the video: Best Regards, ludi
Thank you all for the good words! The car is not a top drift car, but it works pretty well! It turned out that the engine mounts were not the problem. That the engine was moving so violently was because of 2 completely broken transmission mount . So we replaced them. The car was also thicker stabilizers VA : 25mm instead of 23mm Rear: 18mm instead of 15mm Let's see if there is recorded a noticeable difference . Then we have bought this pretty cheap: Then we have bought this pretty cheap : At first we were not so happy when we saw this in a cylinder : The others all look like this: So then just did a compression test . All cylinder where the exhaust valves looked good were recorded 13-13.5 bar . Only in the black with the valves only 10bar . But this is no reason to be upset because the values may be 10 - 12bar . So let's look at what is . Spark plugs all looked good, but the valve cover gasket is leaking M60-typical and therefore the candles are quite oily. Best Regards, ludi
The donor for the add-on parts is now arrived (M60B44). The head is removed and the valves need to be redone. Some footage from the exhaust noise: MfG ludi
Thank you guys! For the last time this year we went again to practice. The transmission is now mounted at 4 points, instead of 2, and holds very well. Best Regards, ludi
The direct comparison in the dry is missing, but the body roll has been reduced considerably. The 20mm stabilizers of the M5 would be quite nice in the rear. Thank you! Yes, it's a very cool little track for practice. Best Regards, ludi
The damaged valves were replaced and we are now waiting for the right head gasket (it was the wrong one sent). "New" Gearbox-mounts support. Works wonderfully! E34 with 9.5x17 ET19 rear and 9.5x17 ET4(!) A little video inspired by Ryan Tuerck's Off Seasons. Nothing professional, but perhaps makes it a bit of fun to look at. Best Regards, ludi
We had a lot over the winter before: - M60B40 swap - New clutch - Install FlyOff - Weld body But we made nothing - we all had a lot to do! Nevertheless, we were last weekend for the first practice time of the season and the car works great! (on a new track) The only problem: a hose from the water cooler has come off and has the engine and the ignition coils flooded with water. It fell 2-3 cylinder, so we could not go on drifting (it feels like 150hp) - at home, he ran back on 8 cylinders. A litte Video: Best Regards, ludi
Irony? Is all low-budget - the fun goes first and also the driving! And that goes both perfectly with the car. Best Regards, ludi
