Hey guys, me again!! I am currently sourcing parts for my RB25 build, and everything seems to be scattered all over the place (turbo from A, manifold from B, gaskets from C) I was just wondering if there was a one stop shop who specialised in all things RB, a specialist tuner or something like that, who was friendly, helpful and patient when dealing with novices like me
there are but they might smell you a mile off and pull your pants down. conceptua sell a lot of the things you want and are not to bad on price/quality.
Loads of RB 'specialist' tuners in the UK, and they used to make a living ass raping the wallets of well off GTR owners with more money than sense. Most are now doing the same job with the new Nissan GTR owners, or have gone out of business, but most will still happily overcharge you for stuff if you like. As Gaz said, Conceptua are good for bits n bobs. Main parts it pays to look/shop around.
That's the sort of responses I was after, I enjoy shopping around, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing a trick and wasting my time if there was another option...i'll try conceptual and keep looking around for now then
For exhaust manifolds i would recommend Sinco Customs · Turbo manifolds, welding, fabrication and machining specialists, Hamilton New Zealand - life time guarantee on cracks and get rid of the "outboard motor" sound. Throw ZPdrift into youtube and check out Zak's videos. I'm trying to find one secondhand at the moment. ECU: GTSLink. Plugs into the existing loom and is very easy to tune. Comes with base map loaded IIRC. Failing that, secondhand PowerFC because wire in ECU's suck and the factory ECU is poo. If you have the budget, go for a cross flow, twin pass alloy radiator too. RB's in s-chassis run hot due to the smaller engine bay. Check out speedway websites and see if you can find one the right size to fit under the radiator support panel to allow you the space to fit a couple of decent sized electric fans or the viscous fan on the back. Or if you're on a budget, note down the measurements and find a secondhand one on fleabay or speedway forums. A couple of guys who compete over here have had overheating problems with RB's but using cross flow, twin pass radiators have fix this.
I already have twin fan and large alloy rad which I have had to do some work to fit in, its also on thermostatic switch so can be adjusted to pull air in at the required temp, its a pretty good setup and worked well in the old s14, so ill keep that for now and see how well it copes with the bigger power...the rad is always something I can play around with later on
