    Hello All,

    been on the forum a while now so thought id put up my build thread. Always been into rc cars from a very young age, but the end of last year i decided to put my 1/18th scale custom team associated buggy to one side to make way for a drifter.

    Chose the maverick strada dc evo because it was cheap and cheerful, ready to drift out the box.

    Since owning it, iv added various lights, many wheels and tried and handful of setups.

    its currently RWD now and still working on custom parts to allow me to drift consistantly and smooth as with the 4WD set up.

    Modifications so far include (all made or modified by me :) )

    * Custom aluminium steering arms for more lock
    * Removed front axles
    * Radius front tyres
    * Stretch look rear tyres (purely to clear the shell)
    * GT86 Rocket bunny shell
    * LED lights front
    * Aluminium front mount intercooler
    * Aluminium rear wing supports

    I think theres more but iv forgotten.

    Mods to come:

    * More steering lock mods to try and acheive 80 degrees of lock, at about 60 to 65 degrees at the moment.
    * Front steering knuckles to be fitted to the rear for extra adjustment
    * Front splitter
    * Rear diffuser to fit
    * and many more

    alot of pics to come, just gotta upload them all to my photo bucket.

    happy skiding :)

    pics as promised, hopefully they are in order, it should go from when i first bought it, through the mods up to now. nearly got 80 degrees of lock now :) few more adjustments to be made. il be uploading pics through out the day as there is alot.

    cars handling is improving with every mod i make, think i need to focus on suspensions set up and weight distribution next,

    Hey dude, good job, ive had a Maverick Strada for a while now too, and funny enough I started doing very similar lock mods to mine one recent sunday afternoon, and scrapped the 4wd setup to go pure, rear wheel drive too!

    Ive noticed in the last few pics not everything is connected for that extra lock? Im assuming your gonna modify to suit, and pretty much exactly same position im in too.

    I did the same in cutting sections of the wishbone for clearance and lock, plus ive cut inbound section of the hubs, and even the streering location points on the hubs, to give more clearance/then lock too.

    Look forward to seeing your next mods, ill get back on the rc drift car once ive sorted my real one, im still looking forward to trying it out soon too, just need to find my lipo charger lol

    cheers man, its good to see another maverick driver on here! people slate them but i cant see how as it drifts straigh out of the box hahaha, yer that last few pics nothings connected, got some updated ones to upload very shortly. im also in the process of designing a relocation bracket for motor to allow me to have it at the front of the car.

    Just ordered a few suspesion parts so i can adjust the castor and a gyro to help control, it drifts ok but i cant hold a decent slide.

    alot more modifcations to be made and to come :)

    "iv ditched that aluminium strut at the top of the oem suspension strut, caused more harm than good haha"

    pics with everything connected, think im going to leave the lock how it is at the moment as im pretty happy with it :) should focus on handling now but untill my other parts turn up theres no point as i would have to change it all again.

    think its time to sort the shell out.

    * Custom rear diffuser/battery holder.
    * Custom front splitter/undertray
    * Custom rear wing brackets.
    * Custom made LEDs (made from a spare set of 501 canbus car headlight bulbs)

    That idea for "stretching" tyres is just what i need to make my new wheels fit, nice to see in depth how to mod the Maverick too.

    btw im EJ9Grant on CivicLife :D

    i need to get a thread up on here for my own...

    That custom lock is RIDICULOUS !! So glad to see a entry level car being taken far, rather than binned after wanting something ''better''

    :)

    Would full 90º lock be possible?

    Are you still running all the standard electronic equipment, esc, moto ect?

    yep, few more mods and it wont be far off, but i need my parts to turn up first so i can see how much castor i can put in. would like at least 10 to 20 degrees of castor and with some where near 90 degrees of lock.

    yep, all running gear standard apart from centre drive shaft and front dog bones removed.

    Update,

    BGW to be fitted and pics of it fitted :)

    Still trying to find material from my front splitter and rear diffuser? but then im debating weither just to run with the rear bumper on as it looks quite nice anyway.

    Do you have an old shell that you can cut up for the splitter and diffuser, same plastics so should work?

    No needs to be flat, rc shells tend to be curved in some way or another, plus if i make it out of ally, then it will add some weight to the car, done another test drive with various weights added to the car ( tape measure and bits of scrap metal lmao) and the way the car handled after words was incredible, i can hold a decent slide now and the car doesnt spin out as much :)

    Pics of the BGW and some fitment shots :) the shell will be slightly higher than this when i actually run it tho.

    the rest of the decals will also be coming off with new custom made ones to go on, and fit my number plates which i made a few months back :smash:
