Hi, I'm Martin Griffiths usually seen knocking around in anything bmw ish E30's in particular,

I haven't documented a build in a long long time so thought I'd share this one with you guys,

Its a 2003 BMW Z4 3.0i which I couldn't resist after spotting it up for sale as a damage repairable.

Heres a few pics after I'd done a quick repair job just to get the car mot'd and driveable

I haven't got a lot of pictures of what ive been doing but I plan to keep this thread updated as I go,

I had a few parts lying around so Ive fitted some E36 modified front hubs and gaz gold front coil overs along with some poly lollipop bushes

I wanted a nice pimping set of rims so did a home refurb on a set of staggered rondell 0058's

pic polishing lips prior to painting

Im trying to keep the car mobile this summer but I've pulled a few bits of that aren't needed ready to sell and free up
    room for the turbo build

£500 worth of sat nav shite (That's paid for my turbo!)

partway through removing sequential lpg system
    [IMG]

And meanwhile an m50 dragged outside for a strip down
    [IMG]

    stripped down ready for cleaning
    [IMG]

    block decked and honed
    [IMG]
    Head skimmed
    [IMG]

The plan is to keep the z mobile for now until the m50 is ready to be fitted and all additional parts are sourced,

    Im keeping the build simple,

    Its staying 2.5 Non vanos
vanos inlet cams in exhaust and inlet
    Holset hx35w 12cm
    cometic Head gasket
ARp head studs and con rod bolts
complete rebuild rings, mains, bigends and head set
    Homebrew twin scroll mani

    650cc injectors and megasquirt 2

Most parts are either in my possession or on the way from either uk, china, usa, australia and Germany.

I hope to have the longblock built by the end of next week.

one other thing ive already done is a hydraulic steering conversion as the electric steering column failed on me after 250 miles !

    Looking forward to some comments:)

As close as I can get to 400 at the wheels hopefully, but 400 at the fly would be just fine!

Well the engines nearly built just waiting on a bit of machining to the non vanos inlet cam so the chain will line up properly
when fitted in place of the exhaust cam.

I've been looking into clutches Ive got an M20 flywheel which I'm getting refaced and I'm planning on running a tried and tested sachs 618 pressure plate with a 6 puk unsprung sintered clutch disc, I already have a 328i zf gearbox 'in stock' so I'm going with that and will sell the z4's 6 speed to fund a spare ZF box.

I've sourced some seats, harnesses and a steering wheel, just need a decent wastegate an s14 rad and the 50 other things that I probably forgot about and aren't factored into the budget!

Planning on putting the car on a sorn the end of this month as I'm going holiday the beginning of august and will be coming back to rip the car to bits and start the proper build, also be able to get back on budget by selling the roof, motors, seats, interior, engine and gearbox.

I've fitted cobra suzukas no pictures as yet and also a weld on steering wheel boss made a bracket and fitted the hydro also made some brackets for the pull cords on the scuttle panel.

Back to turbo placement, Took my bracket and started mocking up pipework trying different routing[IMG][/URL[IMG]
Needed downpipe in position to work out the positioning on the single 44mm wastegate, I had to modify the turbo exhaust housing, weld up internal wastegate and change from 2.5" to 3" v band
