It was imported in 2013 and an American military personal owned.... if someone is in the country for a shot period of time they can avoid paying the road tax like an american soldier.... hence the Q plate - see here if it helps https://www.gov.uk/importing-vehicles-into-the-uk/temporary-imports V5 present fully HPI clear please see pics - I have the V5 and MOT, says in notes about the fact the owner who imported didnt have to pay the usual tax due to not being a permenant UK resident. hope this helps.. ***** UPDATE ***** Right i have spoken with DVLA today and they have dvised me that when the V5 goes in the new owners name they will have to pay the road tax like normal which is; 12 months - £230 6 months - £126.50 They also confirmed that the reason for Q plate was simply because of not knowing the age of car and could have been due to import papers being misplaced etc but that is the only reason for this car Hope that puts everyones minds at ease but feel free to call them yourselves and ask
What's with the mat on the dash? Can that be removed? Is it hiding any nasties and has it been fixed (glued or screwed)? Also do you have documents to prove age etc to get the Q plate removed?
its a dash bra, its there for aesthetics, quite a few imports come with it. yeh its just held down with double sided pads all the V5 is present, car is fully HPI clear. Why would you want to remove it?
Yeah just not my cup of tea really bud lol so wouldn't leave any damage if removed?? Because insurance is more on a Q plate compared to a normal plate
no damage at if removed mate, you could sell that on for decent money probs too... oh really made no difference with my insurance... if you want to view it let me know... genuinely very very good condition chaser, the pics really dont show how nice it actually is - - - Updated - - - forgot also has sunroof
please see pics mate - I have the V5 and MOT, says in notes about the fact the owner who imported didnt have to pay the usual tax due to not being a permenant UK resident. hope this helps..
what? if duty and vat hadnt been paid then a V5 would not have been issued mate.... Q - plate currently makes this car road tax free.... if that still applies to the new owner or not i dont know. I would say it would still apply as the car is still a Q plate regardless of the owner present or past. Q Plate is a vehicle registration mark that starts with a 'Q', indicating that the vehicle was either not originally registered in the UK and proof of age was unavailable at registration; or that it is a vehicle that has been built using a significant proportion of used parts.
Or is an insurance write off repaired or proof of purchase hasn't been provided (stolen abroad and shipped) Not saying that is what this is obviously. So you don't have any Japanese paperwork what so ever? I'd love to drop my private plate on it haha
Q plate is also issued for an unreadable plate (arabic etc.), that is only a temporary import, i.e. customs concession. and sometimes for visiting foreign armed forces, who are gonna be here for less than 12months and are then taking the car back to their country.
point being??? sorry no jap papers.... where dos it mention write offs mate? if a car is written off it becomes CAT C/D etc etc NOT Q plate if it helps i am more than happy to ring HMRC and confirm anything you lot desire... please dont make me break this stunning chaser.. its really really clean!!!
lol.. ok mate, think ive got a que of people wanting the engine... would devestate me if i had to break what is a perfectly mint chaser for no real reason
