Any idea on the preload settings for HSD Mono Pro's ?

I have a set on a Mk1 GS300 but no instructions and I am struggling to find the info. Currently is really bouncy, so i hope it's just a set up issue...

Back the preload right off, see how it rides, adjust from there. Whats the damping set to?

I had a look today and I think the front shocks are on the most firm setting.

That will do it. IIRC the instructions when you get them say to set the preload to minimum.

So can I get away with jacking the car up to unload the spring and then letting the spring relax and re tighten the platform lock ring ? Or does it need the strut removing from the car ?

No you can do it on the car. Obviously the car will drop a bit so you'll need to adjust the height again by unlocking the lowest collar and turning the shock body
