Long story short....my mate pheonix was building this capri years ago, moved away and it ended up in a lockup for 5 years....so i decided to save it Link to original Build thread on here: http://www.driftworks.com/forum/drift-car-projects-builds/73194-reaper-capri-epic-project.html 5 years had taken its toll on most of the bare metal area's, lots of work that had been done is having to be redone Its going to be running a volvo B230FT now Anyway ill let pictures do the talking {} {} {} {} {} {} {} {} {} {} {} {} {} {}
Ok a little sitrep about the car Sunroof has been sorted and a glass roof sits in favour of welding up the roof Engine bay has been sorted to a decent standard and is now in epoxy primer various rust repairs have been carried out along with n/s rear arch replacment front 200sx subframe has been stripped and im trying to source some 4 stud 200sx hubs rear 200sx subframe is due to come off next week so i can get the car on its side and sort the underneath out Rollcage main hoop is on order (making my own) boot floor has been fabricated Still have a fair bit of welding todo on the rear where the 200sx strut towers were grafted in All in all its going well, parts collection has been going well, but so much to get lol
If this capris still going it tells me that theres no excuse to not start working on mine again But I am excited to too this get finished
Well merry christmas to all and a happy new years To keep the thread updated, Work still continues but stopped for a few months as i moved house, garage is unfortunatly smaller which makes working on the capri a nightmare Got a few small things done on the car, sourced a good aftermarket steel fuel tank to mount in the boot. spent the last few weeks cleaning the boot floor and surrounding area's ready for stoneship. Ordered a some parts for the front suspension so i can get that all cleaned and rebuilt. will update with some pictures in the new year as ill hopefully be fabricating engine mounts and cutting silly amounts out of the tunnel
Im chuffed that this build is continuing. I have a 200sx front end in my own mk3 capri build. On the 200sx cars the chassis rails go up and over where the crossmember and front arms mount so I have a few concerns over how that will work on the capri where the chassis rails are not the same. On my own car ive modified the Nissan crossmember and managed to cut its height down by 30 or 40mm to help keep the lower arms near horizontal, but not really going to know how it goes until its on the road. Im guessing you will get your project finished way before me so I'm keen to see how you go with it. Elliot
I just read the old build thread, And this. Do have a soft spot for Capri's will be following this one Just wondering why your going S body for the suspension side of things and maybe engine ? Wouldn't R body stuff fit as well ? Engine to heavy ?
Speaking as the guy who did the original work on the car the s body was chosen because I had an S13 in bits sat next to it and a few too many drinks and little planning later meant it seemed like the right thing to do to get an LS lump in the engine bay. Naturally ambition outweighed student budget and moving to the Midlands after uni meant that I had to mothball the car. Life, a serious motorbike accident and other cars got in the way and I ultimately decided to give the car away as I am currently working on my dream project and the reason I bought a Capri in the first place and mid resto/mod of a 1968 Mustang Fastback Best of luck with the build Mark. I know you were keen to get your hands on another one. Just remember when it comes time to sell if you ever do, I get first dibs
Great to see this project again, was hoping to see an update eventually. Will be keeping my eye on this. Nick
