Due to a strange set of circumstances I've ended up buying 2 RB20DET's.
One is a bare, fully rebuilt JDM Garage unit and the other is a complete standard unit with everything still attached.

So I've started stripping down the complete stock engine (to keep some spares then sell the tall block) and as I've removed the flywheel, I've noticed it's seriously lightweight. I weigh it on my scales and it comes in at exactly 2.0kg.

    Now bare in mind that;

    Standard is 9.5kg
    Driftworks is 8.5kg
    Nismo is 6.9kg
    JUN is 5.7kg
    Competition Clutch is 5.1kg
    Toda Racing is 4.8kg
    Fidanza is 4.3kg

The one i have in my hands is 2.0kg!?!?

Do i fit it or do i get rid?

    Advantages / disadvantages?

Has come off a completely standard RB20 and will be going on a 400bhp R32 drift car.

    Opinions and advice needed.

Oh, and i haven't found any stamps or markings yet but I'm going to clean it up and check again.

does it look like it's designed for a standard type clutch?
Could it be just the back half of a twin or triple plate clutch?

Yes! Thank you. Think you've nailed it there. Definitely not for a standard clutch and does resemble twin/triple clutch assy.

    One for the bin then!

No worries. Some of them are super-light, just there to provide a ring-gear for the starter to drive really
