Hi all, I recently bought a 1993 S13 hatch that has been converted from the CA18DET to a blacktop SR20DET (spliced CA loom), however the tach is not working. I checked the alternator and it has a white/red signal wire coming from the connector, although there is the yellow/red tach signal wire coming from pin 3 on the ECU. Checked the back of the dash cluster and there are two identical yellow and red wires going to the same connector but at different pins.
Not a clue what to do next as wiring really isn't a strength of mine.

Any help or advice would be awesome.

    Cheers
    Alex

what isn't working on the dash? do you have any lights come on for oil level etc? that flash on, and then disappear once the engine is running?

The rest of the dash and those lights works fine, so I'm lead to believe it's a fault with the signal wire, but with it being part sr20 dash and ca18 it's a bit confusing.

So the speedo isn't working? does the rev counter work? or by Tach do you mean the part that clocks up how many miles your doing?

I had this with mine, you need to get a 10k resistor and wrap it around 2 screws on the back of cluster it will work, something to do with running an SR using CA clocks...

Page 4 of my build thread and it shows what you need to do about half way down dude - easy peasy!

Thread revive, i know. But I've just gone through a CA18>SR20 swap as well and can't get the tach to work. I tried the 10k resistor thing but no success.
Did you ever get it working @TheBish ?

Yes mate, mine worked fine after throwing that resistor in. Yours must be a wiring related issue.

I do get voltage all the way to the dash, but maybe the dash itself has given up. Thanks for the update!
