** Awful experience with Carson Performance** **Please read** I own the white Rx7 FB which can be seen in Monkey London’s recent youtube videos and on instagram. I want to let people know of my frustration and dissatisfying experience with Carson Performance. The problem was (still is) that my car can’t get up to the correct temperature. The water and oil temps were around 55c and 53. When I dropped the car off I informed Simon that the car was over boosting & asked him not to put his foot down. A week later my car was on YouTube being rev’d until it hit the limiter to make it flame to create YouTube footage. To treat a customers car in this way is both unprofessional & disrespectful. The footage I saw could easily damage my engine. A couple of weeks later I’m told by Simon to buy an original water pump housing so he could fit a Mazda thermostat to solve the issue. After purchasing this part & sending it to him I was then told his original idea wasn’t going work. Waste of my time & money. Two months after I dropped off my car Simon finds & fits a aftermarket thermostat that will join straight to the water hose. He finally called to advise me that my car was up to temperature. He just needed to test drive and then I could collect it. Great! I reminded Simon again about the over boosting problem for the test drive. On collection I paid for the work done & began my drive home however I soon noticed the temperatures hadn’t changed. Why would you tell a customer you’ve fixed the problem when it’s so obvious nothing has changed? As soon as I got home I called Simon but it went to voicemail so I left a message explaining nothing has been fixed and to call me as soon as he gets this message. Days went past and no callback from Simon. Now I’m pissed off. Then a week later to my horror I find my car on you tube again. With the title “Rx7 rips up the street!” I haven’t given permission for my car to be used in a video and for some random person that is not a mechanic & doesn’t even work for Carson’s to come along for a so called “test drive”. Through the entire joyride Simon did not once look at the the gauges. If he had he would of noticed that the water and oil temps were in the 50s still! Hence why the rev limiter was cutting in at 5000! Any person would think “that’s not right” and check the gauges but a mechanic should know that’s not right & check.. but not Simon. He then proceeds to accelerate over and over not even caring he’s continuously hitting the limiter. Again Simon did not once look at the gauges as he would of noticed the over boosting warning light flash at him every time he accelerated. There was no half throttle or fevering of the throttle at any time during the joyride as stated in the video. The car was over boosting by 6 psi and over 30c under what the water and oil temperatures should of been. The combination of the two wouldn’t do any engine any good but to a rotary engine this can have devastating consequences as confirmed by a rotary specialist who approached after seeing the video on YouTube. The only thing that saved the engine from detonating was the limiter that he chose to ignore. Two weeks later I still haven’t heard from Simon. So I phone again to let him know how displeased I was with his work and actions. And gave him a chance to explain himself. What I got from him makes It’s safe to say he is disrespectful and has little knowledge in his field. I’m sure he is capable of bolting on an exhaust and suspension parts but in my opinion that’s about it. If you’re thinking of using Carson Performance in the future I would think again. The video in question has been removed from you tube in the last hour. Makes no difference trying to hide evidence when we recorded it expecting this would happen
Hes panicking running damage control. I'm not sure what he thought was going to happen when you invite a you tuber to record a joyride in a customers car! Hes also removed the comments on his you tube.
You're saying "Monkey London" goes joyriding in carson's customers cars without permission, (definitely illegal)? this is obviously very serious, have you got any substantial evidence ( download the videos before they're taken down and screen shot messages /email before they're deleted), if this was me and my car id've definitely taken this to the police. edit: the "RX7 rips up the street" is gone now, hope you downloaded it or somthing
Monkey London didn't drive my car. Carson performance (Simon) took it out and invited him to film while he did everything I told him not to. And the possibility of harming the engine. Then take my money and not fix the problem but tells me he did. So frustrating.
Ive got the video recorded will bring copies over tomorrow. There just giggling like children as they hit the limiter over and over and you can clearly see the red light flashing telling him to stop boosting.
When I watched the video when it first come out I thought oh that’s nice of the customer to let him rip his car up the road as I’m sure he said he had permission to do so and I knew from watching a previous video of monkey London’s he took a shine to your car. but on watching the video more it reminded me of that film ferris Buellers day off. At the end of the day we put your trust in these people to take care of our pride and joys and hope they are professional about it treating a car as if it was there own.
Absolute disgrace. Im enraged just reading this. PS. I appreciate Monkys loyalty to his friends at Carson but colluding to take videos down and remove reviews and comments just shows the mentality of these conniving rats
Id go to get legal advice from your local citizens advice bureau. They can point you in the appropriate direction.
Very weird thing to do without consent of the owner, i cant quite get my head around it. I see the video is back up on his youtube?
I’m afraid not. The one still showing is where he revs the car till it hits the limiter. This is before he has even started working on it. {}
Take the car to a Rotary specialist, you have a few nearby; Essex Rotary Rotary Motion The Rotary Specialist Get a full inspection done and a detailed report on any issues with the engine that could have been caused by Carson. Send them the bill, when they refuse take them to court, with the videos on hand it won't be particularly hard to win that case.

If ever there was a use for that popcorn gif. Finding a trustworthy garage is hard enough without having to worry about things like this. It's sad people have to have these experiences to surface the issues, i hope you get your car sorted and no damage has been done to anything other than this guys reputation. Which i hope gets a proper hammering.
