I took this turbo to Turbo Developments in Uxbridge for a quote on a hybrid build - they said they'd need to take it apart and inspect for a quote. I didn't realise that taking a ball bearing turbo apart means you can't put it back together without a new bearing unit, so when I saw their £1000+ quote for a hyrbrid set up (ie, more than the cost of the 0.86 version of this turbo) and I asked for the turbo to be given back to me....I was given a turbo that no longer ran and was charged around £90 for the pleasure. Lovely. Ahem....back to the stock T28 turbo for now... Anyway. My loss will probably be somebodies gain, especially if they have a spare bearing for this unit. The housings are good and not worn/scratched up etc £200 cash on collection or + postage and paypal fees or postage and payment of the unit via bank transfer. I can throw in the hks style adjustable wastegate that this turbo came with for an extra £50. {} {} {} {} {}
Hate to break it to you but a. it can be reassembled, they just can’t be arsed and didnt want to waste their time b. they blagged you on repair price c. £200 is way too much being that its just the housings & compressor wheel that are going to be reused (most likely) Also, I can rebuild it for you for about half of the quoted cost. New bearing housing, shaft, bb cage yada yada including component & VSR balancing edit: I can also do hybrid upgrades, or customize to whatever spec you like
Thanks Jay, If that's true, then I certainly wont be going back there again in future...totally screwed me. Wish I never went there to be honest. I've now refitted the stock S15 turbo to the car and to be honest really can't be bothered to do another install in this cold weather nowadays so I'll consider my options in the late Spring time if I decide to keep the car. I'll just stick the thing on ebay auction and watch it sell for £16.93 + postage
Here you go sir. I hurt my toe walking past it in the storage cupboard yesterday, so it can f**k off now https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/254784902695
