ca18det shavings in oil

    hello, can someone help me out identifie these metal flakes or atleast show me the right path what to do in this situation? long story short my oil pan was leaking so i decided that i should change my oil pan gasket but when i removed the oil pan i found some metal flakes in there. overall the engine looks really good from the bottom, it had no issues in order to start it and it didnt had any konocking noice. where should i look for the issue?     Those are big chunks they ain't shavings.
    It could have possibly kicked a bearing or something in a previous lifetime and the owner never bothered to clean the sump out.

    Take the filter off, cut it open and inspect the filter material for fine metal flake. If there's nothing present stick a new filter on it and pretend it never happened.
