Um, what does "old school" mean in your book? There are many Skyline coupe variants, including: C10 Hakosuka {} C110 Kenmeri {} C210 Japan (I know this one's a saloon, couldn't find a better picture) R30 pre-facelift {} R30 post-facelift Tekamen R31 {} And then there's the R32. Which one is it?
R30s look hotter than R31s IMO, but that's down to personal preference. R30 Turbo also has one of my favourite engines, the FJ20ET, which is one of the most overlooked performance engines of all time. These cars are great in terms of value for money, and you can still get mint, cherished examples from Japan. There's lots of them in the japaneseusedcars.com dealer section.
c10 gtr is the daddy But there not cheap at around £45k and a decent one will not be found easily at auction...
L-series powered C10s are a much better choice, since there are lots of aftermarket parts available for them, they're much cheaper and they can be much faster (at least in a straight line) than original GT-Rs with the 2 litre S20 engine.
How about something like this?? Lots of Old Schoolers still here its just a matter of looking for them. 1981 Skyline GT EX 2000cc 5 Speed 139k/s Grade: R Start: 100,000yen Lowered Alloys Spoiler Over Fenders Muffler Steering Wheel Lots of 30 and 31 Skylines still available too.
Id say even these days the R32 has hit the old skool age, hasnt it? Its got the shape, which is looking very dated these days even by R32 standards. Shame we dont see sub R32's ie R31's and R30's in the UK and am I right in saying the GTR badge went walk-abouts for quite sometime and only returned with the R32?
I'm looking for a nice c110 coupe! Anyone??? R30 turbo is rocking! I've had 4 c110 saloons! Erm and lots of rust................... lol
dattypete there were half a dozen in yesterdays auction and some in tomorrow's auction - there are still a few around
Never understood why the old Skylines aren't more popular, they can look so cool. Well, apart from the likes of that R31 above which isn't far off being a Bluebird coupe
