I want to stiffen up my volvo 340 for drifting. I've already lowered it but it's still to soft and bouncy. Will these help?

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/volvo-340-360-sport-adjustable-Front-dampers-shocks_W0QQitemZ140331545462QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item20ac697376&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12|66%3A2|39%3A1|72%3A1683|293%3A1|294%3A50

Has anybody used em and how much harder do they ride.

    Thanks

If they're the same 'Classic Swede' as you find on Volvo 300 Mania then they'll be excellent. That said, if you just want to stiffen it up at the front then why not remove the dampers and change the oil in them to something thicker. Fraction of the cost, same affect.

Wow thanks for the fast reply.

How do you cahange the oil caus I thought that they were sealed up. Do you just drill a hole to drain them fill them up with new oil then plug up the hole?

Hi mate, best way to make the car stiffer is to get these:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LAND-ROVER-DEFENDER-90-FRONT-SHOCK-ABSORBERS-x2_W0QQitemZ350155184710QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item5186e01a46&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12|66%3A2|39%3A1|72%3A1683|293%3A1|294%3A50

there a direct fit on the rear of the volvo 340 and make it a million times better.
    hope that helps

Early model 300s have screw tops on the shocks. Simply unscrew, drain, refill with diff oil and replace the cap.

Thats how I did my fronts, no need for drilling holes etc. and for the rears I bought a pair of "Pro Comp" land rover gas shocks which made a world of difference for cheapy cheaps!:smokin:

As has been said, best way allround is re-filled fronts (if you've not got screw top shocks get hold of some cheapy cheap from the scrappy) with chopped/Classic Swede springs and Land Rover Defender front shocks for the rear. The higher the number (ie, Defender 90, 110 etc) the stiffer the shock I believe. Couple that with some Escort mk I/II lowering blocks and you'll have a nicely lowered little car that should handle infinately better.

I made lowering blocks for the back on the miller and used cut down 240 rear springs for the front. The wire is a bit thicker so I hope they are stiffer. I cut the originals to short and it was sitting on the stops

I found what you are on about with the fronts shocks. Undun the nut and all the gubins will come out. Changed the oil and it does feel a bit less bouncy at the front. Think most of the problems are soft springs. I'll wait a bit and see how things go with the thicker oil and go for a set of springs from that guy.

BTW can you get an LSD for these as the welded diff is a bit of a pain at times
