I worked off my hangover in the garage this afternoon. Few of the bits removed. {} {} Couldn't get the ball joints split but the TCA's are both loose. {} This lot is going for sand blasting. Disc's will skim so all is not lost. {} Front legs are billys so going to stick with them for now. {} The plan is to get the engine and box out next weekend, drop the cross member so i can get that sand blasted. Then make a start on removing the dash so i can get to the pedal box, (without standing on my head) remove the servo and then the front half of the loom before making a start on getting the back axle off.
If there was ever a need for an oil leak, then this car would of thrived on one! The surface rust is mad! Fecking everywhere! The lower ball joints are always tight as fook! If you got a proper ball joint splitter tool, then even that takes some serious air gun action to crack them off!
Had another go at the car today. Engines out, brake servo and clutch master cylinder. {} {} {} Made a start on the interior too. {} {} {} {}
u dont hang about do ya lad get stuck in an rip her 2 peices its for her best cant wait 2 see the finish
Got to crack on Having loads of work done to the house when the weather picks up so i'm making the most of the time i've got! The front struts, tie rods, brackets, bumper mounts etc have gone with a mate to be sand blasted, front cross member is in the back of my van for the same fate. The rack is going to a local turner for some work. Once i've got the remains of the dash out i can make a start on the back end Quicker i get her sand blasted the quicker i can start putting her back together, i need her to be a rolling shell before the house gets ripped to bits
Front struts came back today after being sand blasted. Just need a coat of paint now before they start to rust up again. {}
Dude.. Do this before painting etc.. http://www.club4ag.com/faq and tech_pages/Short Stroke Conversion.htm
Another day in the garage, more bits piling up in the shed... The engine bay cleared. {} {} No more dash. {} mmmmmmm {} Axle is out, as is the petrol tank. {} {} {} Her arse has seen better days {} {} {} {} Not a lot left to come of the shell now, back half of the cage, p/s/f wing and door (when i move the car to the other side of the garage), tailgate, bit of trim in the boot, fuel and brake lines, back lights and that should be about it, hopefully get that done tomorrow. Anyone got any tips for getting the front windscreen out in one piece?
If it pushes out like a Manta (don't know a lot corollas though ) we got mine out by having 2 people in the car using their feet (no big boots, trainers ok) to lay back on the seats and gently push the screen loose from the rubber.
Back end now cleared out. {} {} {} Fuel lines and brake pipes are off. {} {} Oh and i have a shed full of bits... {} {} {}
sweeps u'l need to cut it out.get some window cutting wire from ur local motor factor.get to pieces of wood and start cutting.takes two people.also what your doin there with the shell a spit wood be a good job. heres mine on one
I tried taking a screen out with a wire recently it would have taken me days! the rate i was getting through the bonding! as the bonding is so hard after all that time! in the end i just payed a mobile windscreen fitting chap to do it he was pretty cheap i guess cos they can easilly fit it in and they drive around anyway he had the propper blades and still struggled to do it without cracKing the screen take care other wise you will be spending most of next year finding another one LOL!
