Cheers for the info guys!, sound like it could be fun. Might take yours advice H7ERO and get a mobile windscreen fitter out to it. If they are that cheap Simon i'll look in to getting another. I'll see which is the cheaper option. Bluecoupe, thats exacly what i need, the problem i have is the lack of room to roll her over...
yea 86jay the trims arnt cheap.got screen fitted for 100 pound.rac windsreens done it.uve got the car well stripped now sweeps.
Got round to one of those jobs that are a pain in the arse yesterday. While the weather was nice and cold, making the sound deadening easier to chip off! I set of with my hammer and chisel and got to work. For my efforts.. A box full of bits {} A nice two tone floor.. {} And a funny looking bulkhead.. {} Another couple of developments, adjustable strut tops have arrived, some of the front suspension should be back all nicely painted this week. Last but not least, i now have 20mm more travel on my steering rack..
the underside of your car looks like some underwater pics of the titanic!!!lol at least you are attempting to fix all the problems the right way, i give you a lot of respect for it. good luck with the restore
Cheers John, i'm keeping my eye on your car's progress to, very interesting, top work! Been a bit slow progress of late, one thing and another has taken priority. Good news is that i've sold my GTR (at last) so i can hopefully make a bit more progress. Took the windscreen out today, got it 99% of the way out and you guessed it, she cracked... The rust underneath wasn't as bad as i was expecting. {} {} A little bit in the middle just for good measure. {}
What are you going to use her for? Due to mine being exposed to the weather for a while, my windscreen has cracked all the way across. HOw hard are they to get hold of?
No this is my own car for my own use. She's going to be my weekend/drift car, as for the windscreen i'm told they aren't to bad, around £150, something like that. If you've got it insured just claim on that, windscreens are usually covered and you just pay £50, doesn't affect your no claims bonus either.
Nice work fella! Can anyone tell me if the rust patch in the middle left of this picture is common and easily treatable? Above the hole where cables pass though into the wing. {}
Yep thats fairly normal! Quite common to rust upwards and make a hole in the top of the dash. (metal part of dash that is) Nice to meet you Sweeps, sound lad Good luck with it all mate, and like i said, if you need anything, advice/parts helping hand just give me a shout.
Pictures of this weekends ventures to collect some "parts" Turbo'd 4AGZE with HKS cams and pulleys, intercooler and pipework to suit the AE86. "Sorted" Cheers Jay {} Kevlar bonnet. Cheers Rob {} With thanks to a few people i've got to know down my way lately we moved the shell ready for sand blasting. {} The four of us lifted the car up on to the truck, not as bad as you'd think... {} {} Oh and i got myself a gearbox and propshaft, W58 {}
Nice bit of progress! Lets see how much or how little comes back from the blasters! haha Dude, dont you think you should of taken out the rear windows and boot seal? Oh and good to see you got the box in the end
A bag of sand Na, he's not doing the top half so i aint worried about the glass and rubber. Oh yeash!
now then matey lookin spot on so far should be pretty wicked hopefully youll take me for a run it (sideways of course) wen u get it sorted
Another update, while the car was away for sand blasting i put my new welder to use and made myself a spit. {} Fitted extensions to the steering rack. {} Then today with the help of a few mates picked up the car from the sand blasters. {} Then came the test wether or not the car would fit in the garage on the spit. It does but we had to turn the car upside down to get it in the garage as it wouldn't go in under the door {} {} Once in the garage the car misses the roof by 5mm when turning it over So my Dad and i have spent most of the day cleaning the chassis legs to enable me to do the seam welding. {} {}
