Started repairing some of the rusty bits! {} {} {} I know the photo's are 90 degs out but thats how they keep coming up...
Good lad! Getting stuck in now! She'll be on the road in no time at all Im wipping off a coilover for you tomorrow and get some specs
Bit more done.. Out with the rust... {} {} {} Filler was hiding some lovely welding {} Chopped the water traps off the rear corner, i'll drill the holes for the bumper mounts and weld the towing eye bracket on at a later stage. {} I can't repair the rear panel/floor pan while the car is on the spit so i'll remove the rust from there at a later stage. Patch work quilt springs to mind....
LOL, I dunno who's more mental, you for taking on a pile of rust and trying to turn it into an AE86 or me for building my car and having not done any drifting yet...
Deffo you Taff To be honest i bet the majority of 86s that havent already had some serious resto work done on em are like that if you stripped em down and had a good look. And once its minted up, no worries for a long time at least, good work.
I think the jury is out on that Bryn.... Got to agree with you on that Stav, makes me wonder what state some of the 86's are in when you get deep down. I knew the car was a bit rough when i bought it but never thought it would be quite this bad. But, as you say at least when she's done she'll be good for a while
what you mean mayyeed?? all corollas mint init mayyeed. good work man, getting stuck into it is well worth it. couple years time i hope to do the same with mine, go right down to bare bones. mine is all sound but would like to do a ground ou resto on the old girl anyway. keep it up!
Dude, dont think ive forgotton, i have all the measurements and pics for you since last week, but just havnt had time to put it down on the keyboard and shit! Will do it this w/end fo sure! And i take it you got my pm about the bits you mentioned Good work on getting the welder out mate, she'll be done in no time haha And it will be great once done, the finished article is what its all about. Oh and ref corolla rust situations, mine are minter than a pack of extra strong trebor! haha. There are some good ones, trust me
I know you won't have forgotten Yeah, got the pm re prices, i'll give you a shout a bit further down the line, as you can see i've got enough on at the mo with the shell I wasn't thinking of yours and Si's cos i know how clean yours is, i'm guessing yours is the same Si ?
It continues... {} With a little help from a 4 inch grinder, a drill with a 6 mm bit to drill out the spot welds and my trusty hammer and chisel i removed the rust. {} {} {} {} {} {} {} The result from a good fews hours work. {} The sill will be done at a later stage. I was getting grief from my other half so never got time to finish the suspension section or wheel arch section
looking good man - doing all this now is the right thing to do - you'd only have to tear it apart again if you didnt By the time you are done you'll be able to build a fresh corolla shell from scratch cos you've worked so much flat steel into toyota shapes I consider us 86 brothers very 'eco' friendly - instead of just buying new shiney cars just recycle old ones instead. We should get a roadtax rebate or something LOL.
man im looking forward to starting on my ae86 shell soon by the looks of it i have got alot of work to do. going to be watching this project with a keen eye to see how you do things lol. Keep up the good work!
To right, might as well do it right the first time.. Your not wrong on making panels, there are a few i'm a bit worried about making though Yeah, We should get free tax ! I hope for your sake yours aint as bad as mine....
Masssive respect Sweeps for undertaking all of that work! Serious restoration for sure! It will be sweet when done, especially with jays motor in it. Thats bollocks ...
