I recently bought a Ae86 and was wondering what’s a common (affordable) engine swap for a drift build?
5th Gen 3SGE BEAMS engine is popular. SQ Engineering sell a lot of parts for the conversion and have loads of info https://www.sq-engineering.com/tech-articles/3sge-beams-conversion-guide/
why upi didnt go go ae86 motor ?? if you turbo it is good enougthfor 450-500ps didnt enougth ?? i have my dudys ae86 with 4agze supercharger motor 200ps and go very fast imagive double ps
corolla with 400ps can you imagive how fast is going ?? is like fly you have spend some good money to make this motor bullet proof and thats it in other hand sr20 is good didnt rebuilt is more expenmsive but get in more ps is your choise how much money and how ps you want but dont be crazy if you havent a lot go for sr20 is you puse it a little more not open engine you get it 320-370ps max if you have to spend all new pistons rods and 30/71 garrett and you get it arround 370-450ps
IMHO the whole point of AE86 is being light and nimble. I would stick with anything NA and around 200hp mark. 7A(1.8) block + GE head is popular in Japan if you like to stick with the roots, Toyota but drop in(ish) and powerful 3S-GE Out of altezza RS200 or K20/24, F20C from Honda if you fancy a project and not bothered with having a different manufacturer's engine in the car. I wouldn't bother with SR20 TBH , DET will be too heavy(and only 200 hp in stock form), DE is only 165HP. However obviously it's your car and you can do whatever you want...
