So my name is Dan and im from south wales. I have had my Altezza for over a year now, and ive finally decided to get around to making a build thread (my first time).
I absolutely love the car and after much thought about selling up i just cant bring myself to doing it, so ive decided to keep it (for how long i am unsure).

So anyway this is how it looked when i first bought it, overall was in pretty good condition with the obviously bodywork imperfections seeing as it was 16 years old at the time. But had stacks of history which i loved!! It also had a nice fresh set of HSD Coilovers, SSR Integrals lightweights, Longlife exhaust, braided brake lines, and the full TRD Kit which stole the show for me!

Then i did not take long for me to get the bug and want to start changing a few little things, so first was the TRD badge on the back (i know nothing special haha)

Then it had a fresh service and cleaned out the AFM as i know its common for them to get dirty and cause splutters.

First week i had it i found the car was set too low on the HSD Coilovers for my area (due to stupid amounts of speed ramps) so got my friend to help set them up a little higher all around which helped massively. I did love the look of it lower, however it was catching the bottom too much, and wanted it sorted before Japfest.

Then thought my wheels were looking too grubby, marked, and in desperate need for a respray. So up the wheel specialists they went to get Powder Coated White!

Then when they was off the car i couldnt resist but paint the Calipers red :p

Then got the wheels back and straight on!!

Just need some new center caps as the old ones were cracked and breaking.

The Longlife exhaust the car came with had a horrible rattle resonating threw it so got it inspected at my local longlife and they found the backbox internals were crumbling and broken, so they replaced the backbox and whilst i was there got them to remove the Cat (ommmm!) :o

More to come, have not finished this thread im currently at work lol

    Continued....

So i decided to keep the car like this for some time and loved it, went to another car show (Cruise Culture and got some good snaps)

After enjoying and loving the car i felt i was getting too used to the standard power and wanted some more, after a much hard choice of either trying to modify the N/A engine to produce more or do an engine conversion i felt my best route for powers was to get the Greddy Turbo Kit and turbo charge my engine. But first i wanted to see what the original engine was actually pushing so got it on the Dyno.

As you can probably imagine i was disappointed with the result as these cars are usually 200+ bhp standard, so i knew i had either a problem somewhere, or my 180,000km engine was feeling tired and the guy said it feels like it may have a slight misfire.
This pushed me further to the idea of now getting more power but first wanted to rectify my lack of power problem.

After loads of scouting about i found on Driftworks someone selling the complete greddy turbo conversion kit, with an Apexi ecu with fc hand commander, intercooler, all the feeds, lightweight flywheel and exedy clutch, 550cc injectors, tomei fuelpump, tomei fuel pressure regulator and braided return line.
I felt like it was a great deal and couldnt resist, but whilst i was at it, i also bought the engine it was originally on as it only had 84km on the clock (50k miles).

So after few weeks of the engine sitting there, i finally got it fitted and also had a service, and brand new timing belt kit fitred!!

It was running bad and lumpy and knew she was in desperate need for a remap, but due to Christmas and all the rest of January i was running a little bit dry on funds so it had to come to a pause for now.

Then February, March came along and knew it was time to get back to the the neglected girl and get the ball rolling, so me and my friend (who has a skyline) booked our dates to get both cars remapped, but before doing so, it needed a bit of tiding up around the engine bay, so the night before we got our new Greddy Boost controllers fitted, new tyres on the back, wires tucked away tidy, new spark plugs (gapped by tuning company), and a full tank of fuel, So up late at night with some Pizza my friend and i worked in my garage!

So the day of remapping came, could not trust driving the car up to 360 motorsport with the way it was running, so i got it on the back of a truck to be taken up there, off she goes!!

After much suspense in waiting for the result i finally received a phone call to collect the vehicle and finally got the results, first it had a health check for any air/oil/coolent/boost leaks and it was fine, then had it compression tested and could not believe how healthy the engine was with perfect compression across all four cylinders.

It achieved a little over 250bhp and 246lbs of torque!!. Now i know the bhp gain isnt massive because its only a little td04 turbo, however the torque transformed the car!!, i could not believe how much difference it actually made receiving over 60bhp and 100lbs of torque. The tuning company believe with a larger turbo it will achieve 300+ with the current setup. I was very happy once i drove the car and the turbo makes a BEAUTIFUL sound, with lots of flutter haha.

So i went to go get it and oops!! found my back bumper decided it did not like the extra power on the rolling road, but doesnt help that my exhaust went back a few inches when turbo downpipe was installed.

So i repaired the worst burn of the bumper by the exhaust, and then sprayed the bottom section black, and this is now how she sits as of today!!.

I have just bought everything i need for an entire full major service,
But i do have more plans for it in the future such as a fresh re-spray, fresh wax-oyl, and maybe more power, brake upgrades, new handling suspension parts and all that, but for now i shall enjoy it as she is!!

I thought I recognized this car. Must have seen it in a show/meet somewhere. Lovely altezza, I do have a soft spot for them and would love one as a daily in the future. :)

Thanks man. Yeah i never knew how much i would love an Altezza until owning one, this used to be my misses daily but after turboing it I got her another daily so this became my weekend nice weather type car. Perhaps japfest, cruise culture, or Cwmbran cruise?

Thanks man, yeah i know what you mean i agree on it looking better lower. Must not be many speed ramps around where the previous owner lived because around my area i kept rubbing the bottom and it was nasty sometimes. Now it doesnt get used daily, i could consider lowering it again. This is how it looked when it was lower

So i didn't realize there was a fellow Altezza owner living in the same area as me, so i offered him to come my place and couldn't help but take a few snaps. Great to see it in another colour too!
