For sale is a 1JZ-GTE conversion kit for an E36 BMW. Included in the kit: • Engine and mounts (with original Toyota wiring spliced into BMW multiplug) • R154 Gearbox and mount (with new clutch) • Propshaft to mate up to type 188 diff (323/325/328 flange) • Exhaust system (made from mild steel using standard down pipe and stainless back box) • ARC intercooler with alloy piping and custom frame to hold it and rad • Radiator with hydraulic fan • ECU • Greddy emanage blue with harness (will need to be re-inserted into the loom) • Swirl plot mounted on plinth with 2 x Walbro pumps • Aftermarket FPR I paid a lot of money to K Conversions for this, and it’s fair to say it wasn’t sold to me honestly; very little fitted or worked. I then paid a lot more money to a local garage to install it for me, who did a great job of modifying everything to fit. They had problems making it run correctly, which was put down to an electrical fault. It was then taken to Checkpoint in Arbroath who diagnosed and fixed some of the wiring faults, gave it new NGK Iridium plugs and also did a compression and leakdown test on it and diagnosed it as having low pressure on cylinder number 5. After eventually deciding they didn’t have the time for it, it was then taken to Chizfab, where it is now. Kyle at Chizfab has now fixed some more wiring faults, and has also done two compression tests and found all the cylinders to be fine, so I’m not sure what was going on at Checkpoint. I have now decided to remove it and put the car back to standard, as I have neither the money or the passion after 18 months to see it through; I’m going to get it road legal and get as much seat time as possible in 2010 after sitting huffily on the sidelines this year. From what I understand, the car will start on the key, but the idle is rough and it is reluctant to rev above 2500 RPM, which is assumed to be a wiring fault. Everything else seems to work and fit correctly (as you’ll see, it looks very at home in the bay, and it drove onto the trailer), but all of this is untested and as such, no warranty is implied. I’m after £1500 ono for the whole lot, which I think is fair as you’d struggle to get all the bits to make a 1JZ manual for less than £1100. I won’t split it and there’ll be no shipping – pick up will be from Fife, Scotland (postcode area KY9).
