BMW E36 - Welding Diff Question

    I'm looking at getting a 318 small case diff welded for my 323, and i was wondering what thickness of steel people usually use to plate it up with for reinforcement?

    6-10mm does the trick.
    Somethings better than nothing.

    I've welded a lot of E36 diffs and have never once put anything other than weld in there and never once had any problems.

    Have you ever not plated a diff or had one fail on you? Just wondering what makes you say "somethings better than nothing"

    3mm plate is fine.
