So I have a E46 318i 1.9L I bought this car as a drift project as it's quite cheap and something fun to learn in. I have a welded diff and have done the weight reduction. So I switched off traction and abs etc but I still managed to break driveshaft in half, swapped them out and went oit again but few days later i broke them again? friend has same problem on a E46 316 he broke one driveshaft but his lasted longer Anyone any ideas why it's happen and how can I get around this?
You can fit the stronger driveshafts from the different E46 Chassis (but you might have to change the output cups on your diff, depending on what diff is in your car). 330 ones are the strongest (I think).
E46 320D driveshafts are the strongest. You will need to change your output cups from small case size to medium case size, they are a straight swap.
