Is it possible to fit a gearbox from say a 325 to a 1 jz? I've seen adaptor plates for sale on ebay claiming that you can use them to fit the bmw box. And they claim that a bmw flywheel will bolt straight to a 1 jz is this true?

was thinking if it was it might be a cheaper way of making my soarer manual. Has anyone here done this?

I know Rob Cousens had SERIOUS issues with those adaptor plates and ended up giving up.

Hope that helps ... I'm sure someone with first hand experience will be along to give you a better idea.

The conversion plates on eBay are proper wank... I bought one a while ago to see how they work.. I wouldn't ever consider using them, you end up with only few bolts holding box and engine together.. And the don't really fit the dowls.. And the input shaft of the box isn't long enough to get to the crank/spigot bearing.. So they are 100% useless..

I'm getting a BMW gearbox conversion from ABCclutchs. Comes with Tilton Twin Plate Clutch, Flywheel, Conversion plate, bolts, etc..

Ok guys well I think I'll give the ebay conversion plate a miss. Would make one my self if it were true that the bmw flywheel fits the jz engine sounds strange but is it true?

the stuff from ABC is expensive, the 1uz setup is $1600
so the 1jz is probably roughly the same

I'm now sponsored by and a UK Distributor for ABCclutch, price is as quoted above £1750 +vat.

If you all re-read what I said above.. The BMW input shaft is not long enough to reach the crank/spigot bearing, therefor it'll rattle around like a cock in a sock until its all broken..

This is the ABC kit.. Note the offset flywheel, so the input shaft fits and is correctly centred..

or rather than spend that kind of cash to fit a bmw box
Contact Mati and have him make you Z33 adapter stuff for a 10th of price and fit and nice shifting six speed

ABC kit includes all you need. So why would anybody loose month by developing his own product. I am going to buy it too.

Don't do a kit yet, it's in development at the moment. It'll be a very similar price. As I'm sure you can imagine, most the money is in the clutch.
