YEP! it's in now
Now to sort that lousy POS clutch again
And to add insult to injury the exhaust fell apart finally
So got a replacement rear section, bolted it all up after a bit of wrestling with it in the snow... to find the mid box has a crack in it Ah well, out with the welder next week and weld it up, no baffles in it.
Though i did run it up with the backbox off.. oh what a noise
Even with the new one on, it sounds better!
Picture spam from the last few weeks work
Reconditioned the leather
Just a bit of news, ordered up a brand new LUK Clutch to replace the dodgy one and also got my good flywheel in at the machine shop for refacing and lightening
Stock flywheel is about 8kg+, and from what research i've done and people have mentioned, i can have it taken to 6kg safely with it being rebalanced.
Should liven the old BMW up a bit
Or remove your legs
Still waiting on the flywheel to come back from machining. I had to spend today doing the cambelt since i was 5000 miles overdue according to Haynes (stands to reason, has been 4 years since i had it done and grease life in sealed bearings is about that)
So spent this morning replacing all that, and also invested in one of Speedtouch's (From E30Zone) M20B20 'Wild' chips for £30....
I was a bit doubting on this but the feedback said otherwise...
Anyone who has a E30 with the original MTronic Bosch injection system it's well worth it!
... Godamned that car's a completely new animal. So smooth at the lower revs and how it picks up through the revs is completely different. It used to have a 'hiccup' at 4000rpm which is now GONE and it's off like a bloody rocket to boot considering the mid box has no baffles left and the ITG panel filter, it's a fair bit more fun to drive!
I've got 1/4 mile times (best was a 17.6 second) and a rolling road print out (117bhp with 126ft/lb) prior to the chip, I'll post up results when i get back to university and hopefully get it on the rollers again, I'm quite interested to see the results on paper
cool e30 mate,im really liking it whats it like on fuel consumption?
I've only got the chip in today! I'll find out on the next tankful what it's like, before the chip i did get 280-300miles to the tank (Milton Keynes to North Luton and back, M1 / back roads) So will find out what it does in a month
Till then my rev counter's rather amusing cause it does this
Not quite past 7k but it does burry itself well into the redzone
If you can't beat them... join them
Fang, If you think yours is comical, you should come for a spin in mine when it's done! don't suppose you have a spare diff lying round? Need to get one welded up.
Don't have a spare diff, i swapped mine for a LSD since it was verging on blowing up!

Update: Flywheel's back from the machine shop, all of 6kg now from over 9kg!
And complete setup....
One brand new LuK Clutch... hopefully should be ready for June's DWYB before i have to stop again for my final year at university
The Seat Looks Sweet Ive Got A E36 325i Did It Go Straite In Or Did U Have To Mod It To Fit
How big are your feet just trying to gage size of the rock LOL
Straight in thanks to some custom made subframes from E30 Zone.
And the shoe size is about size 10 if i remember Not my shoe though
ok Flywheel and clutch are in and had a couple of hundred miles put on them to bed in, the lighter fly has really sharpened the throttle and pickup.
And all booked in for the 3rd June DWYB Will hopfully have some good pictures from it.
